The high-stakes, high-octane musical chairs competition show Oh, Sit! has received the accolade of Best Game Show at this year's Rose d'Or Awards. The prestigious international entertainment programme awards define the gold standard of excellence and achievement in entertainment programming.
Currently airing its second season on
The CW in the US, each episode of Oh, Sit! features 12 thrill-seeking daredevils racing head to head through five physically demanding, chair-splitting obstacle course-style eliminations as they compete to claim a chair - all to the sounds of a live band. At the end of each hour-long episode, only one contestant will be left sitting triumphant to seize the cash prize and the title of
Oh Sit! champion.
The format is produced by The Gurin Company, 405 Productions and Warner Horizon. The format is distributed by Warner Bros. International Television Production who has licensed the show to China (Hunan TV), with others to be announced shortly.
Andrew Zein, SVP, Creative, Format Development and Sales WBITVP, commented: "Oh, Sit! is a hugely entertaining and fun format. The concept of musical chairs is so simple and this show takes the game to the next level. Any buyers who are looking for glossy, studio entertainment shows - Oh, Sit! will be the perfect format for them. We were delighted that the show was recognised at this year's Rose d'Or Awards".
Phil Gurin, Company Founder and Executive Producer, The Gurin Company, commented on the win:
"As a U.S. company with a global focus, it is particularly gratifying that our series
Oh Sit! Has been recognized by our international peers with a Rose d'Or Award. It speaks to the universality of the format that it can connect with very diverse audiences. It truly is an honor to win such a globally renowned award. We are very proud indeed."
The 52nd Rose d'Or awards were held at Eurovision in Brussels on 30 May. The awards were presented in six categories for the best and most creative entertainment television programmes from around the world. More than 300 entries from over 30 countries were submitted this year to participate in this prestigious competition.
Warner Bros. International Television Production
Warner Bros. International Television Production (WBITVP) aims to establish or acquire production companies in the major television territories around the world in order to become a leading producer of local scripted and non-scripted programming.
In those territories where WBITVP establishes a production base, it operates by developing and producing original programming and also producing local versions of formats owned and controlled by the group such as "The Bachelor", "The World's Strictest Parents" and "Who Do You Think You Are?" Where WBITVP has no local production capability it licenses Warner Bros. formats to 3rd parties.
WBITVP has already taken significant steps by acquiring a majority stake in UK production group Shed Media, one of the UK's largest and most successful independent production companies, which operates both in the UK and the US. Most recently it has acquired a majority stake in BlazHoffski Holding B.V., a leading independent television producer in The Netherlands and Belgium.
