Nominees Announced for European Film Discovery Award

The European Film Academy has announced the nominees for the European Discovery Award, also known as the Prix Fipresci, which is presented as part of the European Film Awards to a young and upcoming director for their debut feature film.

The committee which selected the nominees was made up of EFA board members Helena Danielsson (Sweden) and Laszlo Kantor (Hungary); EFA members Pierre-Henri Deleau (France) and Jacob Neiiendam (Denmark); as well as Alin Tasciyan (Turkey), Andrei Plakhov (Russia) and Marco Spagnoli (Italy), as members of Fipresci, the international federation of film critics.

The nominated films will be submitted to the 2,900 EFA members to chose the winner, which will be announced at the European Film Awards ceremony in Berlin on December 7.

About the European Film Awards

Every year, the various activities of the European Film Academy culminate in the ceremony of the European Film Awards which are presented jointly with EFA Productions gGmbH. In a total of 18 categories, among them European Film, European Director, European Actress and European Actor, the European Film Awards annually honour the greatest achievements in European cinema.

The awards ceremony takes place in Berlin every second year. In the other years, the Awards travel: London, Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Warsaw, Copenhagen, Tallinn and Malta.
