According to the Hollywood Reporter, actress Nicole Kidman is set to join the cast of the upcoming film, MY WILD LIFE, directed by Philip Noyce. The dramatic story is based on the life of Dame Daphne Sheldrick, an animal conservationist. The film will be produced by Mandalay's Peter Guber and Cathy Schulman along with Geyer Kosinski and Chris Miller. The script was penned by Jeff Stockwell.
Mandalay is currently in negotiations with Universal to distribute the film domestically around the 2012 holiday season. Filming is set to begin at the start of next year and will take place on location in Africa. Photographers Dereck and Beverly Joubert, who photograph for National Geographic, will be involved in filming the African exotic landscape.
Sheldrick and her husband David spent most of their lives in Kenya's Tsavo National Park, in their attempts to protect the animals who lived there. Sheldrick is said to have developed a formula which was used to feed orphaned baby elephants. A biography about her life is due out in March.
