The Top 10 contestants took the stage on last night's American Idol to pay homage to their favorite moments from past American Idol contestants. The contestants had the choice to either sing a song by an IDOL contestant or sing one of the numbers they made famous while on the show.

Yet the evening began with a bit of a mystery when new judge Nicki Minaj was noticeably absent, leaving an empty chair at the judge's table for the first 13 minutes of the live show. At first host Ryan Seacrest explained that the singer was stuck in traffic, then joked to Keith Urban, "Which one of you gave her the wrong directions? Who drained the gas from her car?" We're looking at you, Mimi.

However Mariah Carey was in no mood for jokes. She rolled her eyes at Seacrest and was visably annoyed, particularly after Minaj completely missed the performance of first contestant Curtis Finch Jr.

Minaj eventually snuck in during a commercial break dressed in a black hoodie and oversized sunglasses, offering little explanation to the live audience. After some rather odd feedback to some of the contestants, Keith Urban went as far as sniffing her cup to see what she had been drinking!

It was an interesting night with performances ranging from Kelly Clarkson's first hit, Moment Like This to Jordin Sparks' famous performance of I Who Have Nothing during Season 6. Tonight, America finds out who got the least number of votes and exits the competition. Tune in at 8/7c on FOX
