Nickelodeon has ordered a second season of superhero comedy The Thundermans, it was announced today by Russell Hicks, Nickelodeon's President of Content Development and Production. Created and executive produced by three-time Emmy Award-winner Jed Spingarn (Big Time Rush, Jimmy Neutron) and executive produced by Dave Hoge and Dan Cross (Just Jordan, Pair of Kings), the scripted half-hour series has been picked up for an additional 20 episodes and follows a pair of superhero twins, Phoebe (Kira Kosarin) and Max Thunderman (Jack Griffo). With opposite personalities, they must navigate their way through school, friends and a family of extraordinary superheroes, all while keeping their true identities a secret. The Thundermans airs regularly Saturdays at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.

"Kids have taken to Kira and Jack's hilarious sibling rivalry since the show's premiere last month," said Hicks, President, Content Development and Production, Nickelodeon. "We look forward to another comedic superpowered season only The Thundermans family can deliver -- complete with freezing antics, super SPEED flying and staying out of telekinesis trouble!"

Season to date the series is averaging 2.1 million total viewers and is posting double-digit gains with K2-11 (3.7/1.2M, +14%) and K6-11 (4.7/928K, +19%). The Thundermans will begin airing on Nickelodeon's international channels in the winter of 2014.

Phoebe and Max Thunderman are 14-year-old fraternal twins turbocharged by freeze breath and the power to move objects via telekinesis. Brother Billy (Diego Velazquez) moves at super speed, while younger sister Nora (Addison Riecke) cuts solid objects with her laser beam eyes. Rounding out the family are parents Hank (Chris Tallman), who possesses extraordinary strength and the ability to fly, and Barb (Rosa Blasi), who can generate lightning from her hands.
