Nick Jonas is confirmed to reprise his role as Alex in the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, according to Deadline.
The follow-up from Sony Pictures also sees the return of Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan as well as director Jake Kasdan.
Jonas' Alex/Jefferson "Seaplane" McDonough, was the fifth player discovered in the game. He is a young aircraft pilot who had been stuck in Jumanji for 20 years.
The studio has not released any of the details from the plot for the sequel. Kasdan co-wrote the screenplay with Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. Kasdan, Matt Tolmach, and Seven Bucks are executive producing and Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia are producing the project.
Also set to come back in the sequel are Ser'Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, Alex Wolff - the teens who transformed into the characters in the original. In addition, Awkwafina is in final negotiations for a significant role and Danny DeVito and Danny Glover have signed on to join the cast.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is to be released in theaters December 13.
