THE PARROT directed by Katie Orjonikidze: a dark comedy about immigrant life
A young girl, named Irma comes to the United States from Georgia after the collapse of the Soviet Union, without speaking any English. She starts working as a housekeeper in a childless family of an American couple Mary and Jay-Jay. Innocent and devoted to her job, Irma works honestly and hard until the couple receives a letter from a neighbor, who lost a parrot and is giving a reward if anybody finds it. Mary and Jay-Jay think that this amount of money could cover their one-day expenses for gambling. Leaving house for a weekend getaway the couple gives Irma an errand to look for the lost parrot, in addition to her usual work at home.
