New York Rangers Host Pittsburgh Penguins On NBCSN's Wednesday Night Rivalry  Image

NBCSN's Wednesday Night Rivalry features a Metropolitan Division clash, as Sidney Crosby and the defending two-time Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins visit Henrik Lundqvist and the New York Rangers at 8 p.m. ET. Pre-game coverage begins with NHL Liveat 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

Academy Award-winning actress and Rangers fan Susan Sarandon will join Emmy Award-winner Pierre McGuire 'Inside the Glass' for the first period of Pens-Rangers from Madison Square Garden, as well as for interviews in pre-game and first intermission. Sarandon marks NBCSN's third 'Inside the Glass' guest analyst this season, following appearances by NASCAR driver Joey Logano and Philadelphia Eagles LB Mychal Kendricks.

"We're excited to have Susan go 'Inside the Glass' to watch her New York Rangers battle the defending Stanley Cup champs on Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden," said Sam Flood, Executive Producer and President, Production, NBC and NBCSN. "We are always looking to grow the game of hockey, and this approach provides us another opportunity to broaden the reach of this great sport."

"I've watched hundreds of hockey games from the stands at Madison Square Garden, but I can't wait to get 'Inside the Glass' on Wednesday night and see the action up close and personal," said Sarandon. "I can't think of a better way to watch my Rangers hopefully take down the defending champs."

This week's NHL coverage on NBCSN begins tonight at 8:30 p.m. ET, as Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche visit Eric Staal and the Minnesota Wild in a CONTEST with playoff implications. AJ Mleczko, who was a member of the U.S. women's hockey team that won a gold medal in the inaugural Olympic tournament in 1998, will serve as an analyst for Avs-Wild alongside Chris Cuthbert (play-by-play) and Brian Boucher ('Inside-the-Glass').

Coverage continues on Thursday with an NBCSN doubleheader, as Crosby and the Penguins visit Brendan Gallagher and the Montréal Canadiens at 7:30 p.m. ET, followed by Dylan Larkin and the Red Wings vs. Anze Kopitar and the Los Angeles Kings at 10 p.m. ET.

Coverage concludes on Sunday, when Vladimir Tarasenko and the St. Louis Blues visit Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT RIVALRY - PENGUINS-RANGERS AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The Penguins (40-26-4, 84 pts) improved to 4-2-0 in March and sit in second place in the Metropolitan Division following a 3-1 victory over the Dallas Stars on Sunday. Crosby notched two assists and teammate Evgeni Malkin, who is currently ranked second in the NHL in points (87), recorded a goal and an assist in the win.

The Rangers (31-32-7, 69 pts) SNAPPED a three-game losing streak with a 6-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday.

Cuthbert (play-by-play), former player, coach and general manager Mike Milbury (analyst) McGuire ('Inside-the-Glass' analyst) will call Penguins-Rangers from Madison Square Garden in New York City.

AVALANCHE-WILD - TONIGHT AT 8:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The Avalanche (36-24-8, 80 pts) defeated the Arizona Coyotes, 5-2, on Saturday after losing in overtime in three consecutive contests. Colorado currently holds the second wild card position in the Western Conference.

The Wild (39-23-7, 85 pts) saw their three-game winning streak SNAPPED against the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. Minnesota is 7-3-0 in its last 10 games and is currently third in the Central Division standings. Through 69 games, Staal leads the team in both goals (37) and points (68).

PENGUINS-CANADIENS - THURSDAY AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The Canadiens (25-32-12, 62 pts) look to rebound from five straight losses, including a 3-2 shootout loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. This marks Montréal's first matchup against Pittsburgh this season.

Gord Miller (play-by-play) and Boucher ('Inside-the-Glass' analyst) will call Penguins-Canadiens from Bell Centre in Montreal.

RED WINGS-KINGS - THURSDAY AT 10 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The Kings (38-26-5, 81 pts) jumped into third place in the Pacific Division with a 3-0 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Monday. It marked Los Angeles' fifth win in seven games.

The Red Wings (26-32-11, 63 pts) look to snap a seven-game losing streak on Thursday. Through 69 games, Larkin leads the team in both assists (40) and points (49).

Alex Faust (play-by-play) and Jim FOX ('Inside-the-Glass' analyst) will call Red Wings-Kings from Staples Center in Los Angeles.

BLUES-BLACKHAWKS - SUNDAY AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The Blues (37-27-5, 79 pts) are one point behind the Avalanche for a wild card position in the Western Conference following a 4-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Monday.

The Blackhawks (30-32-8, 68 pts) defeated the Bruins, 3-1, on Sunday on NBC. Kane scored the go-ahead goal for the Blackhawks while teammate Jonathan Toews tallied three points.

Kenny Albert (play-by-play) and McGuire ('Inside-the-Glass' analyst) will call Blues-Blackhawks from United Center in Chicago.
