On the heels of receiving a record number of submissions across all major categories for its highly anticipated 14th edition, The New York Latino Film Festival (NYLFF), presented by HBO, will make its triumphant return October 11-15 with the support of a stellar roster of new and returning sponsors. The largest and most diverse Latino film festival in the country and a touchstone of the nation's thriving multicultural cinematic movement, the NYLFF welcomes the return of American Airlines (NASDAQ:AAL) as a major sponsor for the 14th time and the festival's official airline partner. The announcement was made today by NYLFF founder Calixto Chinchilla.
The NYLFF also counts on the ongoing support of Time Warner and first-time sponsors including Comcast NBCUniversal Telemundo, AARP,
Univision New York, sociedAD, Cinépolis and H+M Communications.
"We are tremendously grateful to our founding partner
HBO and Time Warner for their unwavering support through the years. The festival could not be more thrilled to welcome back our longtime partner American Airlines. This year, NYLFF welcomes an exciting group of new sponsors- Comcast NBCUniversal Telemundo, AARP and
Univision New York- that will make it possible to continue to break new ground and give a much needed voice to a diverse group of established and up-and-coming filmmakers and artists. Their partnerships will further elevate the NYLFF and make this year's edition the most memorable and most impactful yet," said Chinchilla.
Since its inception in 1999, each year the NYLFF brings together more than 20,000 movie fans and industry executives over the course of several days. The premier marketplace for Latino films in the U.S., the NYLFF will once again showcase a diverse slate, spanning all genres and formats including features, shorts, documentaries and experimental films featuring, about and/or for the U.S. Latino community. A complete slate and full schedule of events will be announced at a later date and made available via
www.NYLatinoFilmFestival.com, its newly designed website. To be considered, all projects had to have been completed by no later than August 4, 2017. Selected projects in a language other than English will feature English-language subtitles. While the NYLFF reserves the right to grant exceptions in the short film and documentary categories, all films featured in this year's edition have never been broadcast (television or Internet) or distributed commercially in the U.S. prior to the festival.
