Families across America rejoice! FremantleMedia North America and Debmar-Mercury announced today that the hit Syndicated game show, "Family Feud," will kick off the 2013 season on Monday, September 16, 2013 (check local listings).
In the all-new season, host
Steve Harvey will be joined by some hilarious families, as they compete for the chance to win a bevy of cash prizes. Featured families traveled from all over the U.S. to participate on the show. This season auditions were held in Atlantic City NJ, San Francisco CA, Austin TX, Indianapolis IN, Phoenix AZ, Miami FL and Boston, MA/New England.
As an extra family fun bonus this season, viewers will get the opportunity to watch their favorite family members from TLC's "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" and "Cake Boss" come face-to-face on the "Family Feud" stage in support of their favorite charities, GLAAD and the Momma Mary Foundation. The highly anticipated showdown is set to air later in the season.
"Family Feud" returns after achieving spectacular ratings gains that began three seasons ago when Harvey signed on as host. The game show really caught fire in 2012-13, surging 44% to a 4.6 household rating season-to-date from 2011-12; matching its all-time high rating of a 5.4 set 22 years ago; and, in the key demo of women 25-54, tying "Wheel of Fortune" at a 2.4 and surpassing "Jeopardy" for the first time since the advent of people meters in 1988.This also marks the first time those game shows will not finish first and second in the demo since the switch to people meters.
Since its premiere in 1976, "Family Feud" has remained one of television's most popular and enduring game shows. Featuring two families who compete for cash and cars, contestants try to guess the most popular answers to questions posed to 100 people surveyed. As host, Harvey engages competing family members in hilarious repartee, and his honest reactions to their responses have brought a fresh sense of comedy to the show.
