Three new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS(R) achievements were set Wednesday in New York's Times Square, where truTV set up the Guinness World Records(R) Unleashed Arena. World-renowned sculptor Andy Gertler set a record for the World's largest marshmallow mosaic, using 14,400 marshmallows for a finished picture - a 100-square-foot depiction of Good Morning America's Sam Champion. Ashrita Furman set a new record by catching the most hardboiled eggs by mouth in under one minute, with his total of 58 eggs more than doubling the previous record of 25. And Samuel Jackson (no relation to the actor) set a new record for Fastest 20-meter butt scoot, clocking in at 20.41 seconds.
Gertler appeared on
ABC News' GMA Live this morning to talk about his new world record. He and
Good Morning America host Josh Elliott then surprised Champion by
Revealing Gertler's record-setting portrait of the weather anchor.
The arena was open from 2-9 p.m. yesterday to build anticipation for new episodes of truTV's hit series Guinness World Records Unleashed, which returns tonight at 8 p.m. (ET/PT). Series host Dan Cortese was on-hand for the fun yesterday, along with series commentators Zach Selwyn & Liz Smith, GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS adjudicator Stuart Claxton and the stars of such
truTV series as Impractical Jokers, Hardcore Pawn,
Lizard Lick Towing and Killer Karaoke. In addition, there was a demonstration by speed-reader and viral video personality Trisha Paytas, who will attempt to break the record for
