Betty White hysteria is in full-force. Although White poked fun of the Facebook group pushing for her to host Saturday Night Live, the tactic proved successful. Two other Facebook groups have ensued following her May 8th SNL appearance. The first of the two, 'Betty White Must Host 2010 Emmys!' has already hit 700 members. The second Facebook fan page, "Getting Betty White to Host The Academy Awards" is growing fast with over 11,000 supporters.
Jimmy Fallon is already slated to host the Emmys this August, but a second Facebook campaign could result in a co-hosting gig for White. Many, including Huffington Post writer, Abe Gurko, are suggesting that NBC welcome the 88 year-old. If White's co-hosting job falls through, there is still potential; the Academy Awards are not until next Spring, however, it has been rumored that Billy Crystal may be returning to the post.
Betty White is a six-time Emmy winner and cultural icon. She hosted "SNL" for the first time in her illustrious seven-decade-long career. As previously reported, White's SNL hosting gig on May 8 scored the highest ratings since 2008. White is best known for her performance as Rose Nylund on NBC's "The Golden Girls," the beloved comedy series that aired from 1985 to 1992. Previously, she co-starred as Sue Ann Nivens in the classic comedy series "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."
