Netflix Plans Interactive BLACK MIRROR Episode for Season 5 Image

Black Mirror will allow you to choose your own adventure when it returns, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Charles Brooker's Science fiction anthology series is working on an interactive episode for its upcoming season. Viewers will be able to choose how they want the story to play out.

Black Mirror is part of a series of projects in development by Netflix as it ventures into live-action interactive programming.

Brooker says that BLACK MIRROR has been toying with the idea of a choose-your-own-adventure episode since the development of season 3's "Playtest." At the time, the plans did not work out. Now, one year later, it seems Brooker's often-prescient ideas and Netflix's technology are coming into line.

"We're experimenting with new genres," executive producer Annabel Jones recently told THR about the upcoming episodes. Brooker added, "We try to do things that are markedly different from what we've done before, so hopefully we've got that."

Netflix has not yet announced a premiere date for Black Mirror's fifth season, which is currently in production.

Netflix has already released choose-your-own-adventure episodes for some of its animated programs for kids. BLACK MIRROR will be the first for adults.

The series recently won four Emmys for season four's Star Trek-inspired "USS Callister" episode, adding to its two Emmys from series standout episode "San Junipero."
