Netflix Officially Reviving GILMORE GIRLS; Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel & More to Return

The GILMORE GIRLS are officially back.

Following reports last fall that Netflix was working on a deal to revive the beloved drama, the streaming service announced today it will produce four 90-minute 'mini movies', written and directed by series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino.

Series stars Lauren Graham (Broadway's GUYS AND DOLLS), Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop (Broadway's ANYTHING GOES) and Scott Patterson are all reprising their roles. Also returning are Sean Gunn and Keiko Agena.

GILMORE GIRLS was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, and starred Lauren Grahamand Alexis Bledel. On October 5, 2000, the series debuted on the WB and remained a tent-pole to the network until it was canceled in its seventh season, ending on May 15, 2007 on the CW.

The show followed single mother Lorelai Gilmore (Graham) and her daughter, also named Lorelai but who prefers to be called Rory (Bledel), living in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. The town is filled with colorful characters and is located approximately 30 minutes from Hartford, Connecticut.

Gilmore Girls was known for its fast-paced dialogue filled with pop-culture references. The show earned several award nominations, winning one Emmy Award. It was also critically acclaimed placing No. 32 on Entertainment Weekly‍‍?'?‍s "New TV Classics" list, and was listed as one of Time magazine's "All-TIME 100 TV Shows" in 2007. (source)
