According to Variety, Netflix has bought the rights in NORTH AMERICA to Maggie Gyllenhaal's drama "The Kindergarten Teacher," which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival one month ago.
In the film, Gyllenhaal plays a kindergarten teacher from Staten Island who becomes obsessed with a gifted child in her class. The movie is a remake of the Israeli film written and directed by Nadav Lapid.
The film was financed and co-produced by Pia Pressure, Farcaster Films, Imagination Park Entertainment, Manhattan Productions, and PaperChase Films.
Gyllenhaal produces, along with Talia Kleinhendler and Osnat Handelsman-Keren of Pie Films, and Trudie Styler and Celine Rattray of Maven Pictures.
