It's not easy being Neil Patrick Harris these days. The talented actor is currently starring in eight shows a week in the Broadway musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which just picked up a Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical as well as a nod for Harris himself, as Best Actor in Lead Role of a Musical.
The 'How I Met Your Mother' star spoke with
PEOPLE this week, and revealed how he spent Father's Day this past Sunday. He also admits that he's looking forward to taking a breather from the grueling Broadway schedule.
Harris and his family began the day with a Gospel Brunch at the Red Rooster, where he dined on fried chicken, biscuits and waffles. "[The kids] loved singing and all of the good food," Harris said of the meal. "It's delicious - the fried chicken, chicken and smothered gravy and biscuits." Following the feast, the actor headed straight to the Belasco theater for two performances of the high voltage musical.
As BWW recently announced, Harris will depart the show this August to make way for Tony nominee
Andrew Rannells (Book of Mormon) to take over the lead role. Asked what was on tap for the upcoming hiatus, the actor shared, "Hopefully, some much needed rest. I'm ready for a little bit of downtime." He adds, "After August, I'll be all up in waffles."
