An estimated 182.63 million people have watched all or part of CBS News broadcasts since the start of the current television year, with 75.4 million of them in the advertiser-desired 25-54 demographic, according to Nielsen most current ratings through the week ending August 2.
The strong appeal of CBS News' original reporting is being recorded across the board, with every broadcast up with viewers on a television year-to-date basis, and drawing strong numbers with adults 25-54.
On a television year-to-date basis, +174,000 more people are watching 60 MINUTES than a year ago. The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY is drawing +214,000 more viewers. CBS THIS MORNING has gained +299,000 viewers. The audience for FACE THE NATION is up +163,000 from a year ago. 48 HOURS is up +441,000 viewers. CBS SUNDAY MORNING WITH CHARLES OSGOOD has added +50,000 viewers. And CBS THIS MORNING: SATURDAY is +170,000 people ahead of last year.

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY was up +4% year-to-year in viewers for the week ending July 31. The broadcast averaged 6.10 million viewers, adding +220,000 viewers from the previous year, and improved its competitive position with NBC by 310,000 viewers. Television year-to-date, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY is up +3% in viewers (7.06m from 6.84m) and even in adults 25-54 (1.4/06), compared to last year.
60 MINUTES was CBS's #1 program for the week ending August 2. 60 MINUTES (R) (7:00-8:01PM) was also #1 in its time period with adults 25-54 and viewers. The broadcast delivered 8.46 million viewers and a 1.5/05 with adults 25-54. Compared to the same night last year, 60 MINUTES was up +4% in viewers. Television year-to-date, 60 MINUTES is delivering 11.23 million viewers, up +2% from 11.06m and a 2.3/04 with adults 25-54, compared to last year.
CBS News' FACE THE NATION is the #1 Sunday morning public affairs program, finishing first in viewers (3.16m) on August 2. Editor's Note: FACE THE NATION's second half-hour was broadcast contiguously across 76.3% of the CBS affiliates. Compared to the same day last year, FACE THE NATION was up +24% in viewers (from 2.55m) and even in adults 25-54 (0.6/03). Television year-to-date, FACE THE NATION is first in viewers (3.32m) and tied for first in adults 25-54 (0.7/04). Compared to last year, FACE THE NATION is up +5% in viewers (from 3.16m) and even in adults 25-54.
CBS THIS MORNING was the only network morning news program to post year-to-year gains with viewers, for the week ending July 31. CBS THIS MORNING delivered 3.13 million viewers and a 0.9/07 with adults 25-54. CBS THIS MORNING gained +350,000 viewers (+12% from 2.78m) compared to the same week last year and closed the viewership gap with NBC by more than half a million (530,000) viewers, and cut the viewer deficit with ABC by 660,000 viewers. Television season-to-date, CBS THIS MORNING is delivering 3.36 million viewers (+10% from 3.06m) and a 0.8/07 with adults 25-54, when compared to a year ago.
CBS SUNDAY MORNING WITH CHARLES OSGOOD was the #1 Sunday morning news program with adults 25-54 on August 2. CBS SUNDAY MORNINGdelivered 4.92m viewers and a 1.0/06 in adults 25-54 (tied with ABC). Television year-to-date, CBS SUNDAY MORNING was up +1% in viewers (5.90m from 5.85m) compared to last year.
48 HOURS: "Fall From Grace" (R) (10:00-11:00 PM) was #1 in its time period with 3.82 million viewers and a 0.9/03 with adults 25-54 on August 1. Compared to the same night last year, 48 HOURS was up +13% in adults 25-54 and +24% in viewers. And at 9:00 PM, 48 HOURS: "Murder in Pinyon Pines" was #1 in viewers and in adults 25-54. "Murder in Pinyon Pines" (R) (S) delivered 3.45 million viewers and a 0.8/03 with adults 25-54 (tied for first with ABC). Television year-to-date, 48 HOURS is delivering 5.56 million viewers, up +9% from 5.12m and a 1.4/04, compared to a year ago.
CBS THIS MORNING: SATURDAY delivered 1.91m viewers and a 0.4/04 in adults 25-54 on August 1. Television year-to-date, CBS THIS MORNING: SATURDAY is up +9% in viewers (2.08m from 1.91m) and even in adults 25-54 (0.5/04) compared to last year.
