E! News reports that Naya Rivera has confirmed that she will return as a series regular on the fifth season of GLEE. Rivera, who plays SantAna Lopez,has confirmed to the site that she will be back in the fall, despite the departure of Heather Morris's Brittany, Santana's best friend and one-time love interest.
However, Dot-Marie Jones reveals her own future on the show is undecided that she still awaits word as to whether her character Coach Bieste will appear in the upcoming season. "I'm still waiting to see if I'm coming back to Glee," Jones told E! News at the opening for Michael Jackson ONE in Las Vegas. "I pray to God I am! It's the best job I've had in my life."
She added, "I'm thankful every day [for my job on Glee]. I mean, this is my 23rd year in the business and, and then to have two nominations for an Emmy the past two years? It's surreal."
Over the weekend, BWW reported that the show's Melissa Benoist (Marley), Jacob Artist (Jake), Becca Tobin (Kitty), Blake Jenner (Ryder) and Alex Newell (Unique) have been promoted to series regulars.
The news comes just after FOX execs confirmed that series staples Heather Morris, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, and Harry Shum, Jr. will not return as regulars for the fifth season. Dianna Agron will also depart the series, except for an occasional guest appearance. Jayma Mays has also just joined the CBS' comedy The Millers, and her future with Glee remains uncertain.FOX premieres GLEE's fifth season on Thursday, September 19.
