National Geographic Greenlights Next Chapter in the CHAIN OF COMMAND Franchise Image

For every agent in the United States Secret Service, the most high-profile security assignment is to protect the president of the United States. In National Geographic's documentary series Chain of Command: The Secret Service (wt) viewers will be immersed in the high-stakes world of a law enforcement agency that very few people know much about. The second season of the CHAIN OF COMMAND franchise will premiere in early 2019 after National Geographic camera teams embed with the elite agency over the course of a year.

Through rare access and partnership, Chain of Command: The Secret Service (wt) will follow USSS agents and officers in different field offices across the country, where viewers will see firsthand how POTUS' security detail prepares and executes an elaborate security plan wherever the president travels, including on President Donald Trump's recent visit to the Philippines. In addition to presidential security, the USSS works in various capacities across the country, all shown in the groundbreaking series. In Miami, camera crews embed with an investigative team following counterfeiting operations. In Washington, D.C., cameras follow intelligence teams as they investigate threats online and in real life, while officers and agents intercept suspicious packages and other dangers outside the White House gate. The event-based, character-driven series, filmed in real time, follows the White House lead-up to the STATE OF THE UNION address to show all the details and security that must be handled in the weeks before an event. Chain of Command: The Secret Service (wt) will take a look at the investigative and intricate decisions that need to be made on a daily basis to offer protection details to the nation's leaders.

"Following the success of CHAIN OF COMMAND earlier this year, we look forward to continuing to build on our existing relationship with the U.S. government by taking a look at the daily lives of the United States Secret Service," said Tim Pastore, president of production and original programming, National Geographic. "Our goal is to give viewers unprecedented access to these different agencies to explore their investigative and protective duties."

The first season of CHAIN OF COMMAND offered an intimate portrait of the war against violent extremism, and the men and women devoting their lives to it. With unprecedented access to the U.S. armed forces, CHAIN OF COMMAND inhabited the rarely glimpsed innermost sanctum of the Pentagon, the front lines of battlefields across the world and even the cockpit of a fighter jet on a mission.

Chain of Command: The Secret Service (wt) is produced by National Geographic Studios for National Geographic. Executive producers for National Geographic Studios are Jeff Hasler, Brian Lovett and Melissa Wood. For National Geographic, Tim Pastore is president, original programming and production.
