New York No Limits (NYNL) in collaboration with the Curatorial Art Alliance (CorAAL) has announced award recipients for the New York No Limits 2012 Summit that was held December 12 - 15 in New York City and Brooklyn, NY.
Elko (Alexander Yan, director) is the winner of Best Film and Best Short Film including a $1,000 cash prize.
Paraiso For Sale (Anayansi Prado, director) is the winner of Best Feature Film.
The Strange Ones (Christopher Radcliff and Lauren Wolkstein, directors) and Hatch (Christoph Kuschnig, director) received Honorable Mentions in the Best Film category.
Awards were voted on by a jury that included producer Michael Gottwald (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Ping Pong Summer), writer-producer Dan Beers (The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, FCU: Fact Checkers Unit, Rio), director Jeff Taylor (After You Left, Official Selection, Sundance Film Festival), Brisbane Underground Film Festival founder Nina Riddel, producer-director Veena Rao (Mrs. Henderson's Kids, There She is), and painter Gregory de la Haba.
The New York No Limits 2012 Summit featured 29 films from eight countries including Bryce Dallas Howard's WHEN YOU FIND ME, Ana Nogueira's ROADMAP TO APARTHEID narrated by Alice Walker, Liam Sullivan's THUGS THE MUSICAL featuring Kevin Avery, David Alan Grier and the Wu Tang Clan's Prodigal Sunn and Toru Kamei's CHAT NOIR LUCY starring Muga Tsukaji.
The New York No Limits 2012 Summit was presented at two locations over four days - December 12th and 13th at Brooklyn Fire Proof (119 Ingraham St. Brooklyn, NY 11237) and December 14th and 15th at New York City's White Box (329 Broome St. New York, NY 10002).
