NOTICIAS Telemundo was awarded a News and Documentary Emmy® Award in the category of Outstanding Coverage of a Breaking News Story in Spanish for "Francisco in America," its special coverage of Pope Francis' historic visit to Cuba and the USA on September last year. The award was presented at the 37th Annual News and Documentary Emmy® Awards Ceremony in New York City.

"Noticiero Telemundo" anchors María Celeste Arrarás and José Díaz-Balart led the award-winning coverage, accompanied by a team of experts and correspondents who documented the Pope's travels from the Vatican to Havana, Holguín, Santiago de Cuba, Washington D.C., New York and Philadelphia.

The News & Documentary Emmy® Awards ceremony took place at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P Rose Hall in the Time Warner Complex at Columbus Circle in New York City. The event was attended by more than 1,000 television and news media industry executives, news and documentary producers and journalists.
