NEON to Release Sandra Luckow's SHARP EDGES, the Original Tonya Harding Documentary in Theaters July 6 Image

Before I, Tonya and even before "the incident," there was Sharp Edges - the documentary made thirty-two years ago by Yale University student Sandra Luckow as part of her senior thesis. Following its successful theatrical run and awards campaign with I, Tonya, NEON has acquired worldwide rights to the documentary and will distribute it in theaters for one week beginning on July 6th.

Sharp Edges features a 15 year old Tonya Harding going to her first National FIGURE SKATING Championships. The film includes interviews with both Tonya and her now infamous mother, LaVona Golden (played by Academy Award winner Allison Janney in I, Tonya). The documentary provided invaluable background for the cast and filmmakers of I, Tonya and clips from the film have been licensed over the years in numerous shows ranging from 60 MINUTES to ESPN 30 FOR 30 The Price of Gold and most recently 20/20's Truth and Lies: The Tonya Harding Story.

Sharp Edges will be playing in New York at the Village East Cinema and in Los Angeles at the Music Hall beginning on Friday, July 6th for a one week run. The filmmaker, Sandra Luckow, will be in attendance for various Q&A's during the film's theatrical run. The film will be released globally on VOD/EST on July 17th and streaming on Hulu beginning August 3rd.
