NBC's The Voice and Blacklist are #1 and #2 for Monday Night

"The Voice" and "The Blacklist" generated the night's #1 and #2 ratings on the Big 4 networks. NBC won the night among ABC, CBS, NBC & FOX in all key categories for a third week in a row, winning six of six half-hours in 18-49 among those nets, also for a third week in a row (while also leading six of six in total viewers last night). NBC is winning the night among the Big 4 by a 78% margin in 18-49 (with a 4.1 rating vs. a 2.3 for #2 Fox).

From 8-10:01 p.m. ET, "The Voice" (4.5 rating, 12 share in adults 18-49, 14.3 million viewers overall) won the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in every key ratings category, including total viewers, despite competition from ABC's "Dancing With the Stars." "The Voice" is #1 for the night on those networks in 18-49, total viewers and other key categories. "The Voice" is currently running within a tenth of a point of last week's 4.6 in these prelim fast-affiliate ratings and within 0.2 of last week's 4.7 in official nationals.

"The Voice grew from its first half-hour to its fourth by 32% or 1.2 rating points in adults 18-49 (to a 5.0 from a 3.8) and by 20% or 2.5 million persons in total viewers (15.3 million vs. 12.8 million).

From 10:01-11 p.m. ET, "The Blacklist" (3.2/9 in adults 18-49, 11.3 million viewers overall) is #1 in The Hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in every key ratings category, with an adult 18-49 margin of +60% Versus ABC's #2 "Castle" (3.2 vs. 2.0).

"The Blacklist" is running within 3% of last week's rating in 18-49 (3.2 vs. 3.3) and within 1% in total viewers (11.260 million vs. 11.348 million). And note that last week's "Blacklist" added 50% to its 18-49 rating in "live plus three day" results, up from a 33% increase the prior week. In total viewers, the increase was 5.1 million, a broadcast-network record (see details below).

Versus NBC's slot result on the same night one year ago, "The Blacklist" is up 7% (3.2 vs. 3.0 for the Oct. 8 telecast of "Revolution"). In total viewers, "The Blacklist" is up 41% Versus the same night last season (11.260 million vs. 8.008 million).

"BLACKLIST" SETS TIME-SHIFTING RECORD
The Sept. 30 telecast of "The Blacklist" set a new record for biggest "live plus three day" lift over "live plus same day" results on the broadcast networks, becoming the first show on those nets to add more than 5 million viewers when going from its L+SD audience to its L+3 result.
The Sept. 30 "Blacklist" averaged 16.4 million viewers in L+3, an increase of 5.1 million or 45% Versus its 11.3 million in L+SD. That 5.1 million is bigger than the week-one increase of 4.4 million, which set a new record for biggest increase from L+SD to L+3 in broadcast-network history.
The percentage increase went up from 35% in week one to 45% in week two. In 18-49, the lift from L+SD to L+3 was also bigger in week two (1.66 vs. 1.28 rating points or 50% vs. 33%). The Sept. 30 "Blacklist" rose in 18-49 from a 3.29 rating to a 4.95
Week two of "The Blacklist" retained 97% of its premiere-week viewership in L+3 (16.4 million vs. 16.9 million) and also retained 97% in 18-49 rating (4.95 vs. 5.11).


In Late-Night Metered Markets Monday night:

In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 3.0/8; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.3/6; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 2.3/6.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 1.0/5; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.7/4.

From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.4/5 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.6/6 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.2/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 1.0/4 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


For the Week:

NBC is #1 for week 2 of the 2013-14 season and is matching the network's highest week-two rating (2.8) in six years (since 2007).

Through two weeks of the new season, NBC is up 4% vs. one year ago in 18-49 (2.9 vs. 2.8) to its highest two-week average in five years (since 2008).

NBC is leading the season by a 21% margin through two weeks (2.9 vs. 2.4 for #2 CBS), the biggest lead for any net at this point in the season in 12 years (NBC +29% in 2001). The 2.9 rating for NBC through two weeks is its high at this point in five years (3.1 in 2008).

NBC's early-season leadership comes on the heels of the network's #2 finish for the 2012-13 broadcast year in 18-49, which marked the first time NBC has finished the year ahead of FOX or ABC without Olympic or Super Bowl help since 2002-03.

In total viewers, NBC finished week 2 in second place, and is also #2 for the season, its highest total-viewer ranking two weeks into the season in 10 years (since 2003).

NBC's season average of 9.2 million viewers is its biggest overall audience two weeks into the season in six years (since 2007). Versus one year ago, NBC is up 17% in total viewers (9.2 million vs. 7.9 million).

For the week, NBC delivered three of the top four Primetime telecasts on ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in adults 18-49: "Sunday Night Football" (#1), Monday's "The Voice" (#3) and Tuesday's "Voice" (#4), with Monday's "The Blacklist" (tied for #9) also generating a top-10 result. Rankings exclude sports pre- and post-game shows.

"Sunday Night Football" and "The Voice" teamed up to account for the #1 Primetime ranking of the week on ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in every key demographic -- adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 - as well as kids 2-11 and teens 12-17.

NBC also won the week among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in adults 18-34, adults 25-54 (tied with CBS), all key adult-male demos, women 18-34 and women 18-49.

Monday Voice: Up Versus same night last year (4.7 vs. 4.6), #1 Big 4 show of the night.

The Blacklist, L+3: Biggest increase ever for any broadcast show going from L+SD to L+3 in total viewers and first broadcast show ever to add more than 5 million viewers (+5.1 million persons, from 12.6 million to 16.9 million).

Tuesday Voice: Excluding finales, top Tuesday "Voice" to date in total viewers (14.5 million).

Chicago Fire, L+3: Series record rating in 18-49 (3.6, L+3).

Law & Order SVU: Up 11% vs. last season's second episode (2.0 vs. 1.8).

Thursday Comedies: "Welcome to the Family" retains 92% of "Parks" in 18-49, "Sean Saves the World" builds on "WTTF" by 27% and "Michael J. Fox" builds on "Sean" by 21%.

Parenthood: Up 50% Versus NBC's average in the slot last season (1.5 vs. 1.0).

Dateline NBC: Matches a three-month 18-49 high in the time period.

Sunday Night Football: #1 for the week on the big four in adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, and tied with "The Voice" for #1 among kids 2-11.
