The March 14 season finale of THIS IS US has risen to the #1 ranking for that week of March 13-19 in total viewers, according to "live plus seven day" results from Nielsen Media Research, making it the first NBC in-season scripted series in nearly 13 years to top a week among all broadcast and cable shows in total viewers

The "This Is Us" finale grew +4.940 million viewers going from "live plus same day" Nielsens to L+7 figures (12.836 million to 17.776 million), moving it ahead of CBS's "NCIS" (17.713 million in L+7). "Us" overcame a deficit of 1.321 million viewers to "NCIS" in L+SD results for that week.

The 17.776 million viewers in L+7 is a series record for "This Is Us."

An NBC in-season scripted series last ranked #1 in total viewers among all broadcast and cable programs for a week in May 2004, when the "Frasier" series finale on May 13 of that year led its week in total viewers.

With THE MARCH 14 "This Is Us" finale now tallied in L+7, the hit NBC drama ranks as the season's #1 broadcast drama in adults 18-49 according to L+7 averages for originals only. In official Nielsen L+7 results, "Us" is rated at a 4.82 rating, which currently ties Fox's "Empire," but additional Video On Demand viewing for the Jan. 10 "This Is Us" (which due to technical problems is not integrated into the official Nielsen database) lifts "Us" to the outright #1 position among broadcast dramas ahead of "Empire" for the season with a 4.84 rating.
