The Nov. 1 telecast of THIS IS US has equaled the biggest L+3 lift for a Tuesday Big 4 telecast in three years in adults 18-49.
Last week's "This Is Us" grew by +71% in adults 18-49 (from a 2.31 rating to a 3.94) and +3.8 million viewers overall (8.5 million to 12.3 million) going from "live plus same day" ratings from Nielsen Media Research to "live plus three day" Npower Nielsen figures.
The adult 18-49 lift of +1.63 of a rating point equals the prior week's gain for "Us" (+1.63 for the Oct. 25 edition, 2.42 to 4.05), the biggest L+3 increase for a Tuesday Big 4 show since Oct. 1, 2013 (ABC's "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," +1.66). The percentage increase of +71% is the biggest yet for "This Is Us."
With the L+3 increase, the Nov. 1 "Us" has pulled within 3% of the prior week's rating (3.94 vs. 4.05), despite an encore lead-in on Nov. 1, as well as competition from Fox's high-rated Game 6 of the
WORLD SERIES in which the Chicago Cubs faced potential elimination versus the Cleveland Indians. That's up from L+SD results, where "Us" finished within 5% of the previous week's rating (2.31 vs. 2.42).
Similarly, the Nov. 1 "Chicago Fire," facing historic competition for viewers in the Chicago market, finished within 9% of its rating of the prior week in L+SD (1.45 vs.1.59) and then moved within 6% in L+3 (2.16 vs. 2.31).
On Monday, Oct. 31, NBC's "Timeless" grew by a biggest-yet +73% in 18-49 (1.13 to 1.96), as well as +2.8 million viewers overall (5.2 million to 8.0 million) going from L+SD to L+3, to generate the biggest L+3 lift of the night on the Big 4 in 18-49. Monday's "Voice" increased by a season-high +25% in 18-49 (2.05 to 2.56), as well as more than +1.5 million viewers overall (9.5 million to 11.0 million).
