NBC's THE VOICE is No. 2 Show of the Week in Key Demos

With "The Voice" ranking #2 and #3 among primetime entertainment telecasts on ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in adults 18-49 for the week of April 1-7, NBC has tied for #2 for the week in 18-49, according to "live plus same day" viewing data from Nielsen Media Research. For the week, NBC averaged a 1.7 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 5.2 million viewers overall.

It's NBC's highest 18-49 average in 10 weeks, since the week of January 21-27, when the networks also scored a 1.7. NBC last generated a higher rating the week of January 7-13 with a 2.2.

The Monday and Tuesday editions of "The Voice" ranked #2 and #3 for the week among entertainment telecasts on ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in adults 18-49, behind only CBS's "Big Bang Theory" (excludes NCAA basketball coverage), and "The Voice" was the week's #1 telecast on those networks, including sports, in women 18-34, women 18-49, teens 12-17 and kids 2-11.

Primetime averages for the week of April 1-7 in adults 18-49 are: CBS, 2.7/8; NBC, 1.7/5; Fox, 1.7/5; ABC, 1.6/5; and CW, 0.4/1. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 11.3 million; ABC, 6.7 million; NBC, 5.2 million; Fox, 5.1 million; and CW, 1.1 million.

Season to date averages through eight weeks are: CBS, 3.0/8; Fox, 2.5/7; NBC, 2.4/7; ABC, 2.3/6; and CW, 0.7/2. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 12.2 million; ABC, 7.9 million; Fox, 7.1 million; NBC, 7.1 million; and CW, 1.8 million.

NBC highlights for the week of April 1-7

Monday: "The Voice" (4.7 rating, 13 share in adults 18-49, 13.3 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) led NBC to dominant nightlong win, finishing as the #1 show of the night in 18-49 and ranking #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in every key demographic. In 18-49, "The Voice" topped ABC's #2 "Dancing With the Stars" in the time period by a margin of 114 percent (4.7 vs. 2.2 for both ABC and Fox).

"The Voice" Built impressively throughout its two hours, with this half-hour track in 18-49: 4.0, 4.7, 4.8, 5.4. From its first half-hour to its fourth, "The Voice" grew by 35 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 5.4 from a 4.0) and 25 percent or 3.0 million persons in total viewers (14.8 million vs. 11.8 million).

"Revolution" (2.2/6 in adults 18-49, 6.4 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) tied for #1 in The Hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in 18-49 and other key demographics and tied as the #1 drama of the night on those networks in 18-49. Note that "Revolution" has established itself as a highly time-shifted show, growing by an average of 62 percent in the fourth quarter when going from its "live plus same day" rating (3.10) to "live plus seven days" (5.03).

Tuesday: "The Voice" (4.5/14 in 18-49, 13.9 million viewers overall from 8-9:01 p.m. ET) grew by 10 percent versus the prior week week's 4.1 rating in 18-49 and by 12 percent or 1.5 million persons in total viewers (13.9 million vs. 12.4 million). The 4.5 in 18-49 beats every Tuesday telecast on every Big 4 net since the "Voice" finale on December 18, 2012 (4.9). This is also NBC's best 18-49 rating in the time period since October 16, 2012.

"The Voice" delivered the #1 rating Tuesday night in adults 18-49, topping the #2 telecast, ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" Results Show by 96 percent (4.5 vs. 2.3).

In total viewers, "The Voice" delivered its biggest non-finale Tuesday audience since May 31, 2011 during the show's first cycle. It's also the biggest audience so far for the current "Voice" cycle on a Monday or a Tuesday and the biggest for any non-finale "Voice" telecast on any night since Monday, March 12, 2012.

At 9:01 p.m. ET, "The New Normal" (1.7/5 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall) scored the show's highest 18-49 and total-viewer results since December 4. At 9:31 p.m., a second telecast of "The New Normal" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 3.4 million viewers overall) delivered the show's top 18-49 rating in this time period since January 15 and biggest overall viewership in the slot since December 4.

"Smash" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 3.0 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) tied for #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in women 18-34.

NBC was #1 Tuesday night among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, adults 18-34 and other key demos.

Wednesday: "Dateline NBC" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) earned the network's highest 18-49 rating in the time period in 12 weeks (since January 9). In total viewers, "Dateline" generated NBC's biggest audience in the slot in four months (since November 28, 2012, with "Christmas in Rockefeller Center"). Versus NBC's season average in the time period, "Dateline" was up 45 percent in total viewers (5.9 million vs. 4.1 million).

Thursday: The premiere of "Hannibal" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall at 10:01 p.m. ET) delivered NBC's top rating in the time period with entertainment programming in more than a year, since March 15, 2012 (excludes live news and sports). In total viewers, this is NBC's biggest overall audience in the slot since January 17. "Hannibal" Built on its lead-in by 45 percent in 18-49 rating and 78 percent in total viewers. "Hannibal" is up versus NBC's season average in the slot by 60 percent in 18-49 rating (1.6 vs. 1.0).

"Go On" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 2.4 million viewers overall from 9:31-10:01 p.m. ET) earned NBC's top 18-49 and total-viewer results in the slot since February 14, the night an hour-long "Office" ran in the time period.

Friday: "Grimm" (1.5/5 in 18-49, 5.1 million viewers overall at 9 p.m. ET) captured a four-week high in 18-49 and equaled its highest rating since November 16. In total viewers, it was the biggest overall audience for "Grimm" since November 9.

Sunday: "All-Star Celebrity Apprentice" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) Built on its lead-in by 75 percent in both adults 18-49 (with a 1.4 vs. a 0.8 for a 9 p.m. "Apprentice" encore) and total viewers (4.5 million vs. 2.6 million). Despite the 10 p.m. ET hour, "Apprentice" grew from half-hour to half-hour in every key ratings category, including again of 15 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.5 rating from a 1.3).

An Encore telecast of "The Voice" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall from 7-9 p.m. ET) ranked #2 among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and other key categories. The "Voice" Encore grew from its first half-hour to its fourth by 113 percent in 18-49 rating (to a 1.7 from a 0.8).
