NBC's THE VOICE & SVU Capture 3 of Top Eight 18-49 Ratings

NBC's "The Voice" has teamed with "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" to capture three of the top eight rankings in adults 18-49 among primetime telecasts on the Big 4 networks for the week of April 27-May 3, according to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research, with NBC averaging a 1.2 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49 and 5.6 million viewers overall for the week.

Last week's triple-crossover event involving "Law & Order: SVU," "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago P.D." Tuesday and Wednesday nights generated top-30 rankings for all three shows in adults 18-49.

For the week, Monday's "The Voice" tied for #3 among Big 4 primetime programs in adults 18-49, Tuesday's "Voice" tied for #5, Wednesday's "SVU" finished in a tie for #7, Wednesday's "Chicago P.D." tied for #16 and Tuesday's "Chicago Fire" tied for #24.

For the 2014-15 season to date, NBC ranks #1 or tied for #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 as well as men and women 18-49 and adults and men 18-34.

In total viewers, NBC is #2 for the season, and running within 7% of its year-ago Olympics-boosted average (8.8 million vs. 9.5 million), making this season and last NBC's two top-scoring seasons in total viewers at this point since the 2006-07 season. This is the second year in a row NBC has ranked #2 in total viewers at this point in the season, marking first two times since 2003-04 that NBC has ranked higher than #4 in total viewers at this point.

Primetime averages for the week of April 27-May 3 in adults 18-49 are: ABC, 1.5/5; CBS, 1.3/5; NBC, 1.2/4; Fox, 1.0/4; and CW, 0.6/2. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 8.3 million; ABC, 6.5 million; NBC, 5.6 million; Fox, 3.4 million; and CW, 1.5 million.

"Most current" averages for the season to date are: NBC, 2.5/8; CBS, 2.3/7; ABC, 2.2/7; Fox, 2.0/6; and CW, 0.8/3. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 11.3 million; NBC, 8.8 million; ABC, 7.9 million; Fox, 5.9 million; and CW, 2.1 million.

NBC highlights for the week of April 27-May 3:

Monday

"The Voice" (2.6/8 in 18-49, 10.5 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) ranked as the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 in adults 18-49, as well as men and women 18-49, adults and women 18-34 and adults, men and women 25-54 and won its two-hour time period among those nets in all key demos. "The Voice" maintained 100% of the prior week's rating in 18-49 (2.6 vs. 2.6) and retained 99% week to week in total viewers (10.5 million vs. 10.6 million).

"Live Plus Seven Day" Ratings: Season to date, first-run editions of Monday's "Voice" have grown in L+7 vs. L+SD by +25% in 18-49 rating (from a 3.38 to a 4.24) and 2.2 million viewers overall (12.2 million to 14.4 million).

"The Night Shift" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 4.9 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) retained 92% of the prior week's rating in adults 18-49 (1.2 vs. 1.3) and 100% in women 18-49 (1.7 vs. 1.7) and women 18-34 (1.0 vs. 1.0). "The Night Shift" finished within 0.2 of a point of #1 in the time period among the ABC-CBS-NBC dramas in adults 18-49 and tied for #1 among those nets in women 18-49 (with a 1.8 rating). L+7: "The Night Shift" has increased by an average of +37% in 18-49 rating this season (from a 1.36 to a 1.86) and 1.7 million viewers overall (5.5 million to 7.2 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

NBC won Monday among the Big 4 nets in adults and women 18-34; adults, men and women 18-49; and adults, men and women 25-54.

Tuesday

"The Voice" (2.2/8 in 18-49, 9.5 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) ranked as the #1 telecast of the night in adults 18-49 and other key measures in a time period that included special competition from ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" special. L+7: Originals of Tuesday's "Voice" have grown by an average of +25% in 18-49 rating this season (from a 3.31 to a 4.13) and 2.1 million viewers overall (12.5 million to 14.6 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Undateable" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall from 9-9:30 p.m. ET) was the night's #1 comedy on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and total viewers. In the time period, "Undateable" ranked #2 among the Big 4 networks in women 25-54 (with a 2.1 rating) and tied for #2 in women 18-49 (1.4). L+7: "Undateable" is increasing by an average +19% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.59 to a 1.89 and 616,000 viewers overall (5.4 million to 6.2 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"One Big Happy" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall from 9:30-10 p.m. ET) ranked #2 in the time period among the Big 4 nets in women 25-54 (with a 1.5 rating). L+7: "One Big Happy" originals are increasing by an average +24% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.27 to a 1.57) and 649,000 viewers overall (4.2 million to 4.8 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Chicago Fire" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 6.8 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) equaled its highest 18-49 rating on a night with no "Voice" lead-in since Jan. 7 (1.7/5), a span covering seven original "Chicago Fire" telecasts. In the time period, "Chicago Fire" ranked #1 in adults 18-49 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and was #1 or tied for #1 among those nets in all other key demographics. "Chicago Fire" originals have now won the time period six consecutive times among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49. This week's "Chicago Fire" grew half-hour to half-hour in every key measure despite the 10 p.m. hour. L+7: "Chicago Fire" first-runs have increased by an average +60% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.87 to a 3.00) and 3.5 million viewers overall (7.6 million to 11.1 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Wednesday

An encore telecast of "Chicago Fire" (0.7/4 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) grew from its first half-hour to its second by +14% in adults 18-49 (0.7 to 0.8) and +8% in total viewers (4.2 million to 4.5 million).

"Chicago P.D." (1.8/6 in 18-49, 8.1 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) captured the show's highest 18-49 and total-viewers results since Nov. 12 (2.2 in 18-49, 9.5 million viewers overall). With its initial first-run telecast in three weeks and in a special time period, "Chicago P.D." grew by +20% versus its prior original on April 8 in 18-49 (1.8 vs. 1.5) and by +20% or more than 1.3 million persons in total viewers (8.1 million vs. 6.7 million). With the middle episode of a "Chicago Fire"-"Chicago P.D."-"SVU" triple crossover, "Chicago P.D." tied CBS's "Criminal Minds" for #2 in the time period in adults 18-49 and ranked #2 outright in adults 18-34 and all key adult-male demos. L+7: "Chicago P.D." originals are growing by an average of +69% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.59 to a 2.69) and more than 3.3 million viewers overall (7.1 million to 10.5 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (2.1/7 in 18-49, 9.3 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) locked up its highest 18-49 and total-viewer results since Nov. 12 (2.4 in 18-49, 10.0 million viewers overall). With the concluding episode of a "Chicago Fire"-"Chicago P.D."-"SVU" triple crossover, "SVU" dominated the time period's ABC-CBS-NBC drama competition in every key ratings measure - adults, men and women 18-34,. 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers. With its first original in three weeks and in a special time period, "Law & Order: SVU" grew by +17% versus its prior first-run telecast on April 8 in 18-49 (2.1 vs. 1.8) and by +27% or 2.0 million persons in total viewers (9.3 million vs. 7.3 million. L+7: "SVU" originals this season are increasing by an average of +70% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.62 to a 2.76) and 2.9 million viewers overall (7.4 million to 10.3 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Thursday

An encore telecast of "The Blacklist" averaged a 0.5/2 in 18-49 and 3.1 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET.

"The Blacklist" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 6.6 million viewers overall from 9-10:01 p.m. ET) built on its lead-in by +140% in 18-49 (1.2 vs. 0.5) and +113% or 3.5 million persons in total viewers (6.6 million vs. 3.1 million). L+3: The prior week's "Blacklist" grew by +79% in L+3 vs. L+SD in 18-49 rating (1.49 to 2.67), the biggest increase of the night on the Big 4, and grew in total viewers by 3.9 million persons (7.5 million to 11.4 million). L+7: This season, originals of "The Blacklist" are increasing by an average of +70% in 18-49 rating (from a 2.56 to a 4.36) and 5.8 million viewers overall (10.0 million to 15.8 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: The 8 p.m. "Blacklist" encore and the 9 p.m. original had the two most educated 18-49 audiences of the night among Big 4 shows of the night, indexing at 148 and 140 respectively among adults 18-49 with four or more years of college (100 represents an average concentration of those homes, L+SD).

"Dateline NBC" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) maintained its rating week to week in adults 18-49 (0.9 vs. 0.9) and adults 25-54 (1.4 vs. 1.4). Despite the 10 p.m. hour, "Dateline" maintained its rating or grew half-hour to half-hour in every key ratings measure. L+3: The previous week's Thursday "Dateline" increased in L+3 vs. L+SD by +29% in 18-49 rating (0.86 to 1.11) and in total viewers by 849,000 persons (5.7 million to 6.5 million).

Friday

"Grimm" (0.9/4 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) finished within 0.1 of the prior week's rating in adults 18-49 (0.9 vs. 1.0) and matched its week-earlier results in adults 18-34 (0.4), men 18-34 (0.3) and women 18-34 (0.6). L+3: The previous week's "Grimm" increased in L+3 vs. L+SD by +61% in 18-49 rating (1.02 to 1.64) and in total viewers by more than 1.7 million persons (4.7 million to 6.4 million). L+7: "Grimm" first-runs are growing by an average of +85% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.18 to a 2.18) and 2.7 million viewers overall (4.9 million to 7.6 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Dateline NBC" (1.0/4 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) grew +11% week to week in adults 18-49 (1.0 vs. 0.9), by +15% in adults 25-54 (1.5 vs. 1.3) and by +25% or more than 1.0 million persons in total viewers (5.4 million vs. 4.4 million). It's the most-watched Friday "Dateline NBC" in four weeks (since April 3, 5.9 million), and in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54, "Dateline" matched the top Friday ratings since that same April 3 telecast (1.2 in 18-49 and 1.7 in 25-54). L+3: The prior week's Friday "Dateline" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +37% in 18-49 rating (0.86 to 1.18) and in total viewers by 928,000 persons (4.4 million to 5.3 million). L+7: Friday's "Dateline" is increasing by an average of +25% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.22 to a 1.52) and 930,000 viewers overall (6.1 million to 7.0 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Saturday

NBC Sports coverage of the World Golf Championships - Cadillac Match Play (0.4/2 in 18-49, 2.5 million viewers overall from 7:21-11 p.m. ET.) ranked #1 for the night among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in men 18-34 (with a 0.4 rating), men 18-49 (0.5, tie) and men 25-54 (0.7, tie).

Sunday

"Dateline NBC" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall from 7-9 p.m. ET) grew from its first half-hour to its fourth by +83% in adults 18-49 (0.6 to 1.1), +89% in adults 25-54 (0.9 to 1.7) and +68% or 2.6 million persons in total viewers (3.9 million to 6.5 million).

"A.D. THE BIBLE Continues" (1.1/3 in 18-49, 5.5 million viewers overall from 9-10:01 p.m. ET) maintained 100% of last week's 18-49 rating despite a drop in lead-in of 0.3 of a point from 8:30-9 p.m. (1.1 this week, 1.4 last week). "A.D." grew week to week in women 18-34 (0.6 vs. 0.5). L+3: The previous week's "A.D. THE BIBLE Continues" increased in L+3 vs. L+SD by +17% in 18-49 rating (1.14 to 1.33) and in total viewers by 778,000 persons (5.8 million to 6.5 million). L+7: "A.D. THE BIBLE Continues" has grown by +22% in 18-49 (from a 1.72 rating to a 2.09) and 1.5 million viewers overall (7.9 million to 9.4 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"American Odyssey" (0.5/2 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) equaled its 18-49 rating of the prior two weeks and was up week to week in total viewer and adults, men and women 25-54. This week's episode grew +12% versus the prior week in total viewers. L+3: The prior week's "American Odyssey" increased in L+3 vs. L+SD by +22% in 18-49 rating (0.50 to 0.61) and in total viewers by 856,000 persons (2.8 million to 3.6 million). L+7: "American Odyssey" is increasing by an average +23% in 18-49 rating (from a 0.83 to a 1.02) and 1.3 million viewers overall (4.2 million to 5.5 million) going from L+SD to L+7.
