NBC has won the primetime ratings week of Nov. 16-22 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and other key demographics, paced by the #1 show of the week in 18-49, "Sunday Night Football," and top-20 results from "The Voice," "Chicago Med," "Blindspot" and "Chicago Fire."
NBC will also win the November 2015 sweep in adults 18-49, its fourth consecutive November victory (see separate release).
NBC has now won eight of the season's first nine weeks in 18-49 and finished #1 or tied for #1 for 19 of the last 20 weeks, trailing over that span only
FOX the week it aired five
WORLD SERIES games.
NBC's "Sunday Night Football" ranked #1 for the week of Nov. 16-22 among primetime shows on ABC, CBS,
NBC and
FOX in adults 18-49, total viewers, adults 25-54, adults 18-34, all key adult-male demos and kids 2-11. Also finishing in the week's top 20 were telecasts of "The Voice" on Monday (#5) and Tuesday (#7), the Tuesday series debut of "Chicago Med" (tied for #12), Monday's "Blindspot" (tied for #15) and Tuesday's "Chicago Fire" (tied for #18).
According to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research,
NBC averaged a 2.1 rating, 7 share in adults 18-49 and 7.7 million viewers overall for the week.
Through the opening nine weeks of the 2015-16 season,
NBC ranks #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, as well as adults 25-54, adults 18-34, all key adult-male demos, women 25-54 and women 18-49 (tie), while running #2 in total viewers.
NBC is running within a tenth of a rating point of its year-ago season average in adults 18-49 (2.8 vs. 2.9, "most current"), is retaining 99% of its year-ago total viewership (9.7 million vs. 9.8 million) and is up versus last season in men 25-54 (3.4 vs. 3.3).
Primetime averages for the week of Nov. 16-22 in adults 18-49 are: NBC, 2.1 rating, 7 share; ABC, 1.8/6; Fox, 1.8/6; CBS, 1.4/4; and CW, 0.6/2. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 8.4 million; NBC, 7.7 million; ABC, 7.0 million; Fox, 5.3 million; and CW, 1.5 million.
"Most current" averages for the season to date are: NBC, 2.8/9; CBS, 2.5/8; ABC, 2.2/7; Fox, 2.1/7; and CW, 0.7/2. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 11.9 million; NBC, 9.7 million; ABC, 8.0 million; Fox, 6.5 million; and CW, 1.9 million.
NBC highlights for the week of Nov. 16-22:
Monday
NBC ranked #1 for Monday night among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and all other key demographics (including a tie in men 18-34), with "The Voice" and "Blindspot" dominating six of six half-hours among ABC, CBS,
NBC and
FOX in 18-49 and ranking as the #1 and #2 shows of the night on those nets. It's the 16th Monday in a row that
NBC has ranked #1 or tied for #1 among ABC, CBS,
NBC and
FOX in 18-49.
"The Voice" (3.0/9 in 18-49, 11.2 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) grew +3% versus the comparable telecast in the spring in 18-49 (3.0 vs. 2.9 for the second Monday live telecast of the spring on April 13) and +2% in total viewers (11.2 million vs. 11.0 million). "The Voice" won the time period among the Big 4 in every key demo and was the #1 program of the night on the Big 4 in adults 18-49 and most other key demos.
"Live Plus Three Day" Ratings: "The Voice" increased by +18% in 18-49 rating going from "live plus same day" to "live plus three day" Nielsens (from a 3.00 rating to a 3.53) and by 1.8 viewers overall (from 11.2 million to 13.0 million).
"Live Plus Seven Day" Ratings: So far this season, Monday's "Voice" has grown in L+7 vs. L+SD by +26% in 18-49 rating (from a 3.27 to a 4.11) and more than 2.4 million viewers overall (12.0 million to 14.4 million).
Upscale: Monday's "Voice" is delivering a solidly upscale audience, indexing at a 115 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current," including L+3, 100 represents an average concentration of those homes). This week's telecast was the night's most upscale show on the Big 4 (123 index, L+SD).
"Blindspot" (2.1/7 in 18-49, 7.7 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) was the #2 show of the night on the Big 4 in adults 18-49, as well as the #1 scripted series in that demo and the #1 first-year series. In the time period, "Blindspot" ranked #1 among the ABC,
CBS and
NBC dramas in every key demographic. In nine weeks, "Blindspot" has delivered NBC's nine highest ratings in the slot, excluding sports, in the past year (since Nov. 17, 2014, 2.2 with the premiere of "State of Affairs"). L+3: "Blindspot" grew by +63% in 18-49 rating going from L+SD to L+3 ratings (2.13 to 3.47) and by 4.2 million viewers overall (7.7 million to 11.9 million), to generate the #1 increases of the night on the Big 4 in total viewers (+4.361 million). L+7: "Blindspot" has increased by +76% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 2.44 to a 4.30) and 5.6 million viewers overall (8.7 million to 14.3 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Tuesday
NBC won Tuesday in adults 18-49, sweeping six of six half-hours among the Big 4 to stretch its streak to 17 consecutive primetime half-hours among those nets on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights.
"The Voice" (2.6/9 in 18-49, 11.2 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) grew +4% versus the comparable second Tuesday live telecast of the prior cycle in 18-49 (2.6 vs. 2.5 on April 14) and by +5% in total viewers (11.2 million vs. 10.7 million). "Voice" was the #1 show of the night among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and all key adult-female demos. Versus the prior week's 8-9 p.m. results, "Voice" retained 100% in 18-49 (2.6 vs. 2.6) and grows by +6% in total viewers (11.2 million vs. 10.5 million). L+3: "The Voice" increased by +14% in 18-49 (2.64 to 3.02) and more than 1.2 million viewers (11.2 million to 12.6 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: Tuesday's "Voice" has increased this season by +28% in 18-49 rating (from a 3.19 to a 4.07) and more than 2.5 million viewers overall (11.9 million to 14.5 million) going from L+SD to L+7. The debut of "Chicago Med" (2.2/7 in 18-49, 8.6 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) tied as the #1 scripted show of the night on the Big 4 in 18-49 (with "NCIS," 2.2 each). "Chicago Med" won the slot in adults 18-49 as well as adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and all key adult-female demos, while jumping +83% versus NBC's slot average last season in 18-49, excluding weeks when "The Voice" ran in the time period (2.2 vs. 1.2) and +120% in total viewers (8.6 vs. 3.9 million). In 18-49, "Chicago Med" equaled NBC's highest in in-season regular-program rating in the time period, excluding "The Voice," in three years, since Oct. 9, 2012 (2.4) and in total viewers, it was the high for a non-"Voice" in-season regular since May 22, 2012 (9.4 million). L+3: "Chicago Med" increased by +24% in 18-49 (2.19 to 2.72) and more than 1.7 million viewers (8.6 million to 10.4 million) going from L+SD to L+3.
"Chicago Fire" (1.9/6 in 18-49, 7.9 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) delivered its highest rating without a "Voice" lead-in since Nov. 18, 2014 (2.1) and its biggest overall audience sans "Voice" lead-in since Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013 (8.0 million). "Fire" was up versus its average last season when airing without a "Voice" lead-in by +19% in 18-49 (1.9 vs. 1.6) and by +16% in total viewers (7.9 million vs. 6.8 million). "The Mysteries of Laura" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 7.4 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) grew +6% versus its prior telecast in in total viewers (7.4 million vs. 7.0 million on Nov. 4), to capture the show's season high and best total-viewer result since Feb. 25 (7.6 million with a telecast featuring guest star Eric McCormack of "Will & Grace"). L+3: The prior telecast of "Laura" increased by +32% in 18-49 rating going from L+SD to L+3 Nielsens (1.12 to 1.48) and by 1.3 million viewers overall (from 7.4 million to 8.7 million). "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 6.3 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) built on its lead-in by +27% in 18-49 to finish within 0.1 of a point of "Criminal Minds" in adults 18-49 (1.4 vs. 1.5). "SVU" outrated "Criminal Minds" in adults 18-34 (0.9 vs. 0.8) and women 18-34 (1.1 vs. 1.0) and tied it in men 18-49 and 18-34. L+3: "SVU" grew by +66% in 18-49 rating going from L+SD to L+3 Nielsens (1.43 to 2.37) and by 2.4 million viewers overall (from 6.3 million to 8.7 million). "Chicago P.D." (1.4/5 in 18-49, 6.5 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) won the slot among the ABC-CBS-NBC dramas in adults 18-49 and all other key demos (including a tie in women 18-34) and has now finished #1 or tied for #1 in 18-49 versus the time period's regular
ABC and
CBS drama competition with its last 24 regular-slot originals, dating back to November 2014. "Heroes Reborn" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) retained 100% of the prior week's 18-49 rating and grew week to week in adults 18-34 (+40%, 0.7 vs. 0.5) and women 18-34 (+40%, 0.7 vs. 0.5). These numbers will increase dramatically with time-shifting and viewing on alternate platforms -- among adults 18-49, the previous week's episode grew by +95% (to a 2.2 rating) via 3 days of time-shifting and 7-day alternate-platform viewership (1.12 rating to a projected 2.18 rating in TAMi estimates). The prior week's "Heroes Reborn" added nearly a million full-episode views (P2+) in seven days on

L+3: The prior original of "Undateable" grew by +31% in 18-49 (0.68 to 0.89) going from L+SD to L+3 and by 434,000 viewers overall (2.6 million to 3.1 million). L+7: "Undateable" has increased by +34% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 0.76 to a 1.02) and 553,000 viewers overall (2.7 million to 3.2 million) going from L+SD to L+7.
"Truth Be Told" (0.6/2 in 18-49, 2.1 million viewers overall from 8:30-9 p.m. ET) retained 100% of its 0.6 rating of the prior two weeks in adults 18-49 and was up +4% week to week in total viewers (2.113 million vs. 2.061 million). L+3: The previous week's "Truth Be Told" increased by +25% in 18-49 (0.56 to 0.70) going from L+SD to L+3 and by 230,000 viewers overall (2.1 million to 2.3 million). "Dateline NBC" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) reported a season high in 18-49, matching its top Friday rating in eight months (since March 20, 1.3). "Dateline" jumped +50% week to week in 18-49 rating (1.2 vs. 0.8). In adults 25-54, "Dateline" grew by +33% (1.6 vs. 1.2) to its highest rating since Oct. 2 (1.6) and matching the show's season high. In total viewers, "Dateline" increased +31% week to week (4.6 million vs. 3.5 million) to its high since Oct. 23 (4.6 million). L+3: The prior week's "Dateline" grew by +14% in 18-49 (0.83 to 0.95) going from L+SD to L+3 and by 341,000 viewers overall (3.5 million to 3.9 million). L+7: Friday's "Dateline NBC" has grown by +31% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 0.97 to a 1.27) and 1.0 million viewers overall (4.7 million to 5.7 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: The previous week's telecast was the most upscale show of the night on the Big 4, indexing at a 113 among adults 18-49 in $100K+ homes.
Saturday
The 2013 feature film "Free Birds" (0.5/2 in 18-49, 2.3 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) was the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 in kids 2-11 (with a 0.7 rating).
"SNL Vintage" (0.5/2 in 18-49, 2.2 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET, with an encore of the Dec. 6, 2008 telecast of "Saturday Night Live" hosted by John Malkovich with musical guest T.I.) grew from its first half-hour to its second in adults, men and women 18-49; adults, men and women 25-54; and total viewers, despite the 10 p.m. hour.
Sunday
NBC Sports coverage of Cincinnati Bengals-Arizona Cardinals "Sunday Night Football" (6.3/19 in 18-49, 18.0 million viewers overall from 8:31-11:46 p.m. ET) led
NBC to nightlong wins in adults 18-49, total viewers, adults 25-54, adults 18-34 and all key adult-male demos, taking the night by a +36% margin in adults 18-49 (4.9 vs. 3.6 for #2 ABC, which was boosted by the "American Music Awards").
Through the opening 11 weeks of the NFL season (12 telecasts), NBC's "Sunday Night Football" is averaging 22.7 million viewers - the best viewership for the NFL's broadcast primetime package at this point in the season in 19 years (23.0 million for
ABC in 1996), and up +8% from last year at this time (21.1 million viewers). "SNF" is averaging an 8.3 rating in the adult 18-49 demographic, up +6% versus last season at this point (7.8).
