NBC has won the primetime ratings week of Dec. 22-28 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and every other key demographic, with "Sunday Night Football" ranking #1 among primetime programs on those nets in adults 18-49, total viewers and every other key measure.
According to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research,
NBC averaged a 1.6 rating in adults 18-49 and 5.9 million viewers overall for the week. Note that weekly averages are not yet official from Nielsen and some adjustment to these results are possible.
NBC led the week among ABC, CBS,
NBC and
FOX in adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. In adults 18-49, it's NBC's 11th victory in the season's 14 weeks to date.
NBC's "Sunday Night Football" rated #1 among Big 4 primetime programs for the week in adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers, teens 12-17 and kids 2-11.
Joining "Sunday Night Football" among the week's top 30 primetime telecasts on ABC, CBS,
NBC and
FOX in adults 18-49 were Monday's "Saturday Night Live Christmas" encore (tied for #9), the Christmas Eve rebroadcast of "It's a Wonderful Life" (tied for #16), Friday's "Dateline NBC" (tied for #21) and Monday's "State of Affairs" (tied for #27). Rankings exclude sports pre- and post-game shows.
For the season,
NBC ranks #1 or tied for #1 among the Big 4 networks in every key demographic - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. In adults 18-49,
NBC ranks #1 by a +12% margin (with a 2.8 rating vs. a 2.5 for #2 CBS).
In total viewers,
NBC is #2 for the season, and running within 1% of its year-ago average (9.6 million vs. 9.7 million), making this season and last NBC's two top-scoring seasons in total viewers at this point since 2006. This season and last also mark the first two times since 2003 that
NBC has ranked as high as #2 in total viewers at this point.
Primetime averages for the week of Dec. 22-28 in adults 18-49 are: NBC, 1.6 rating; Fox, 1.1; ABC, 1.0; CBS, 1.0; and CW, 0.3. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages are: CBS, 6.1 million; NBC, 5.9 million; ABC, 4.1 million; Fox, 3.5 million; and CW, 1.1 million.
"Most current" averages for the season to date are: NBC, 2.8 rating; CBS, 2.5; ABC, 2.3; Fox, 2.0; and CW, 0.9. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 11.5 million; NBC, 9.6 million; ABC, 8.4 million; Fox, 5.9 million; and CW, 2.3 million.

Monday
NBC tied for #1 for the night among the Big 4 in adults 18-49, and was #1 outright among those nets in adults 18-34, men 18-34 and men 18-49.
An encore telecast of "A
SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE Christmas" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) tied for #1 in the time period in adults 18-49, and ranked #1 outright among t hose nets in adults 18-34.
"State of Affairs" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) finished within 0.1 of a rating point of #1 in the time period among ABC,
CBS and
NBC in adults 18-49 and ranked #1 among those nets in men 18-34 (tie), men 18-49 and men 25-54.
L+3: "State of Affairs" grew by +40% in 18-49 (from a 1.01 rating to a 1.41) and 2.0 million viewers overall (from 4.6 million to 6.6 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: "State of Affairs" has increased by an average +42% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.70 to a 2.42) and 2.9 million viewers overall (6.9 million vs. 9.8 million) going from L+SD to L+7.
Tuesday
"One Direction: The TV Special" (0.7/2 in 18-49, 3.1 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) scored a four-week high for
NBC in the slot in teens 12-17 (with a 1.0 rating), best since "The Voice" earned a 1.2 in
THE HOUR on Nov. 25. The special also scored a six-week high for
NBC in the slot in females 12-17 (1.6), best since "The Voice" earned a 1.8 on Nov. 11. In a strong time period for
NBC in female teens (slot regular "The Voice" delivers the network's #1 and #2 averages in that demo with its Monday and Tuesday editions), "One Direction: The TV Special" beat NBC's time-period average by +7% (1.6 vs. a 1.5 season average). "One Direction: The TV Special" tied for #2 in the slot among the Big 4 in adults 18-34 (with a 0.5 rating).
An encore telecast of "Michael Bublé's Christmas in New York" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) grew versus the encore of Bublé's Christmas special last year in 18-49 by +14% in adults 18-49 and +5% in total viewers (vs. a 0.7/2 in 18-49, 3.4 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013).
A rebroadcast of "Kelly Clarkson's Cautionary Christmas Music Tale" (0.7/2 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) maintained 100% of its lead-in in 18-49 and built by +1% in total viewers. This year's encore matched the year-ago rebroadcast in 18-49 and was up +2% in total viewers (vs. a 0.7/2 in 18-49, 3.545 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013).
Wednesday
A Christmas Eve encore of "It's a Wonderful Life" (1.2/5 in 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall from 8-11 p.m. ET) won the night among the Big 4 in 18-49, total viewers and all other key demos. The Dec. 24 encore grew versus the prior Christmas Eve telecast by +9% in 18-49 (1.1 to 1.2) and by +7% in total viewers (5.0 million vs. 4.7 million). "It's a Wonderful Life" increased by +50% from its first half-hour to its sixth in 18-49 (1.0 to 1.5) and +51% or 2.1 million persons in total viewers (4.1 million to 6.2 million). This was NBC's 38th primetime telecast of "It's a Wonderful Life," directed by Frank Capra and starring Jimmy Stewart, since the movie was brought to broadcast network television in 1994.
Thursday
An encore telecast of "How Murray Saved Christmas" averaged a 0.3/1 in 18-49 and 1.4 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET. "Murray" maintained its adult 18-49 rating from half-hour to half-hour and grew in teens 12-17 from a 0.1 to a 0.3.
A rebroadcast of "Elf: Buddy's Musical Christmas" averaged a 0.3/1 in 18-49 and 1.1 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET.
An encore telecast of "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" (0.4/1 in 18-49, 2.0 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) grew from its first half-hour to its second, despite the 10 p.m. hour, in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and total viewers.
Friday
NBC tied for #1 Friday night among the Big 4 in adults 18-49, 18-34 and 25-54 and ranked #1 outright among those networks in total viewers.
"Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.7 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) maintained its 18-49 rating week to week and grew +1% in total viewers (4.6 million to 4.7 million). "Caught on Camera" won the time period among the Big 4 in adults 18-49, 18-34 and 25-54, plus total viewers. From half-hour to hour, "Caught on Camera" grew by +25% in adults 18-49 (0.8 to 1.0).
"Dateline NBC" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 5.6 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) delivered the biggest overall audience of the night on ABC, CBS,
NBC or Fox. "Dateline" tied for the time period win among those networks in adults 18-49 and 25-54 and won the slot outright in total viewers.
Saturday
"WWE Tribute to the Troops" (0.4/1 in 18-49, 1.6 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) finished in a three-way tie for #2 in the time period among the Big 4 in adults 18-49. "WWE Tribute to the Troops" tied for #1 in
THE HOUR among those networks in men 18-34.
An encore telecast of "The Mysteries of Laura" (0.4/1 in 18-49, 2.3 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) maintained or increased its rating from half-hour to half-hour in every key measure.
A rebroadcast of "Saturday Night Live," with host Jimmy Fallon and musical guest Justin Timberlake (0.8/3 in 18-49, 2.7 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) equaled the highest 18-49 rating for a Saturday 10 p.m. "SNL" encore since premiere week on Sept. 27 (0.9/3 with a rebroadcast of the Dec. 13, 1975 edition hosted by Richard Pryor with musical guest Gil Scott-Heron).
Sunday:
NBC Sports' "Sunday Night Football" (6.6/19 in 18-49, 20.7 million viewers overall from 8:31-11:24 p.m. ET), featuring the Cincinnati Bengals at the Pittsburgh Steelers, led
