NBC's NINJA WARRIOR Encore Retains 82% of Last Week's Rating

An encore telecast of "American Ninja Warrior" (1.4/4 in adults 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) retained 82% of last week's rating for an original in adults 18-49 (with a 1.4 vs. last week's 1.7). In total viewers, the "Ninja" encore retained 87% of last week's overall audience for a first-run (4.467 million vs. 5.151 million).

For its second hour from 10-11 p.m., the "Ninja" encore ranked #2 among ABC, CBS and NBC in 18-49, within 2 shares of CBS's season premiere of "Under the Dome" (1.6/5 from 10-11 for "Ninja" vs. a 2.2/7 for "Dome") and +45% ahead of ABC's original "Mistresses" (1.1/3). From its first hour to its second, the rebroadcast "Ninja" grew by +23% in 18-49 rating (to a 1.6 from a 1.3) and by +12% in total viewers (4.7 million vs. 4.2 million).

From 10-11 p.m., the second half of the "Ninja" encore tied the "Under the Dome" debut in men 18-34 (1.1 rating each).

"Harry Potter: The Making of Diagon Alley" (0.8 rating, 3 share in adults 18-49, 3.0 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) tied for #2 in the time period among the Big 4 nets in men 18-34 (0.5 rating).


In Late-Night Metered Markets Monday Night:

In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.0/5 with an encore telecast; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.0/5 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 2.0/5.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.8/4 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.5/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.7/3.

From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.0/3 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (0.9/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1 with an encore).

At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.5/2 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.1/1 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


For the Week:

NBC has won the Primetime ratings week of June 23-29 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, despite airing no original episodes last week of "America's Got Talent."

Tuesday's "Talent" encore ranked #3 among Primetime programs on those networks for the week and "American Ninja Warrior," "The Night Shift" and two editions of "Last Comic Standing" joined "Talent" in the week's top 30.

Behind Tuesday's #3 "Talent" encore, "American Ninja Warrior" tied for #5 in adults 18-49 among Primetime programs on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox, a Wednesday "Talent" rebroadcast tied for #13, "The Night Shift" tied for #17 and a Sunday "Last Comic Standing" original tied for #23 with a Monday "Last Comic" encore.

Through 40 weeks of the 2013-14 broadcast year, NBC ranks #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, men 18-49 (tied with Fox), men 25-54 and all key adult-female demos. It's the first time NBC has ranked #1 in adults 18-49 at this point in the season in 10 years (since the 2003-04 season).

NBC's 2.6 rating in adults 18-49 is the network's top average at this point in the season in four years (since a 2.6 in 2009-10).

Versus one year ago, NBC is up +13% for the broadcast year to date in adults 18-49 (2.6 vs. 2.3).

In total viewers, NBC ranks #2 for the broadcast year with an average of 8.8 million viewers, which is its biggest overall audience 40 weeks into the season in eight years (since 2005-06, 9.3 million). Versus one year ago, NBC is up +28% season to date in total viewers (8.8 million vs. 6.9 million). It's the first time NBC has ranked #2 in total viewers at this point in the season in 10 years.
