NBC's Lester Holt has arrived in Afghanistan as the nation faces a critical moment, with the last U.S. surge troops departing, green on blue attacks on the rise, NATO restricting joint operations with Afghan security forces, and the greater Middle East in turmoil.
Holt will appear on Sunday's "Today" and anchor Sunday's "NBC Nightly News" from Kabul. He will report for all platforms of NBC News throughout the week, including a sit-down interview with the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, General John Allen, on Monday.Holt joins NBC News chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel, who has covered the conflict from the beginning, and Atia Abawi, who is based in the NBC News Kabul bureau.Videos
