NBC's DOLLY PARTON'S CHRISTMAS OF MANY COLORS is No. 1 Show of Wednesday Night

In total viewers, NBC wins its first Wednesday of the season with the #1 and #2 shows of the night. It's NBC's most-watched in-season Wednesday (11.192 million), excluding Olympics, in nearly nine years (since Jan. 9, 2008, 11.311 million). It's also the first time this season anyone has beaten FOX on a night of an original "Empire."

"Dolly Parton's Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love" (1.7/6 in 18-49, 11.5 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) Is the #1 show of the night and dominates the time period in total viewers. Scores NBC's highest in-season total-viewer result in the time period, excluding Olympics, in nearly nine years (since Jan. 2, 2008, 13.455 million)

Beats "Empire" head to head in total viewers by 3.9 million viewers or +50% (11.7 million vs. 7.8 million).

Wins its second hour from 10-11 p.m. among ABC, CBS and NBC in 18-49, total viewers and every other key measure.

Virtually matches its year-ago 18-49 rating (1.8), despite this year's "Empire" competition.

Is NBC's most-watched scripted telecast since last year's "Coat of Many Colors" (13.0 million) and excluding that, since the "SNL 40" special Feb. 15, 2015 (23.1 million)

Has teamed with last year's "Coat of Many Colors" to rank as the two most-watched movies on broadcast television in the last four and a half years (since CBS's "Jesse Stone: Benefit of Doubt" on May 20, 2012, 12.932 million, excludes stage musicals).

Has joined with last year's "Coat of Many Colors" to rank as NBC's two highest rated movies in the past seven years in 18-49 (since Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, "National Treasure," excludes stage musicals).


"Christmas in Rockefeller Center" (1.7/6 in 18-49, 10.5 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m.): Grows +13% vs. last year in 18-49 (1.7 vs. 1.5)
Wins the 8-9 p.m. hour in total viewers by +1.7 million viewers or +20% over "Survivor" (8.8 million). Grows +13% vs. last year in 18-49 (1.7 vs. 1.5) Jumps +30% or +2.4 million persons in total viewers (10.511 million vs. 8.071 million)

Delivers its top total-viewer average in six years (since 2010, 11.260 million).
Is up +55% versus NBC's average for the time period so far this season (1.7 vs. 1.1, L+SD non-sports) and up +106% in total viewers (10.511 million vs. 5.098 million).

In Late-Night Metered Markets Wednesday Night: In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.7/7; "Late Show with Stephen Colbert," 2.0/5; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.6/4 with an encore.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.7/4; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3 with an encore.

From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.1/4 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," 1.0/3. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/2 in 18-49 with an encore; "Late Late Show," 0.2/2.

At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
