NBC tied for the nightlong win Wednesday in adults 18-49 among the Big 4 networks and won the night outright among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in total viewers with the #1 show of the night on those nets in both measures, "Dateline NBC."
"Dateline NBC" (1.4/5 in adults 18-49, 6.2 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) ranked as the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, as well as total viewers (6.2 million) and adults 25-54 (1.9 rating).
"Dateline" tied for #1 for its first hour from 9-10 p.m. among the Big 4 networks and won its second hour from 10-11 p.m. among ABC,
CBS and
NBC in every key measure (adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers), with an 18-49 margin of +78% (earning a 1.6 rating from 10-11 vs. a 0.9 for CBS's "CSI" encore).
The "Dateline" telecast, featuring the report "The People vs. O.J. Simpson: What the Jury Never Heard," grew from its first half-hour to its fourth by +33% in 18-49 (to a 1.6 from a 1.2), by +31% in 25-54 (2.1 vs. 1.6) and by +30% or 1.6 million persons in total viewers (6.9 million vs. 5.3 million). In the 10:30 lead-in to local news, "Dateline" delivered a +50% margin of victory in the key news demo of adults 25-54 (with a 2.1 rating vs. a 1.4 for CBS's second-place "CSI" encore).
"Growing Up Fisher" (0.9/4 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall from 8-8:30; 0.9/3 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall from 8:30-9 p.m.) maintained 100% of its 18-49 rating from half-hour to half-hour and grew by a tenth of a rating point or +20% in men 18-34 (to a 0.6 from a 0.5).
In Late-Night Metered Markets Wednesday Night:
In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 3.1/8,; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.2/6; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.6/4 with an encore.
In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.1/5,; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.
From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline," delayed by an NBA overrun, averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.
From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.4/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.0/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1).
At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly," averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.4/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
