Tuesday Primetime Results: Facing the high-rated Democratic Presidential Debate on CNN and baseball playoffs on TBS, NBC wins the night among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, marking the 13th straight Tuesday it has ranked #1 or tied for #1 among those nets.
The fourth season debut of "Chicago Fire" (1.8/6 in 18-49, 7.4 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET):
· Grows +20% versus its season finale in May (1.8 vs. 1.5 on May 12) and +11% in total viewers (7.366 million vs. 6.659 million).
· Wins the slot among ABC,
CBS and
NBC in 18-49 and all other key demos.
· Leads by a +29% margin among those nets (1.8 vs. 1.4 for CBS's "Limitless").
· Captured its top results since April 7 in 18-49 and total-viewers.
· Delivered its ninth consecutive time-period win versus its
ABC and
CBS competition when in original, dating back to last March.
· Note that last-year's "Chicago Fire" premiere benefited from a 4.7 lead-in rating from 9:30-10 for the "Voice" season premiere, up from the 2.6 rating from 9:30 to 10 for last night's Battle Rounds episode.
"The Voice" (2.5/7 in 18-49, 9.9 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET):
· Is the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, as well as adults 18-34 and adults 25-54.
· Wins the 9 p.m. hour by a +67% margin among ABC, CBS,
NBC and
FOX (2.5 vs. 1.5 for CBS's "NCIS: New Orleans."
· Is up +19% versus NBC's average in this hour last season (2.5 vs. 2.1, L+SD non-sports).
· Will add significant viewership via time-shifting and VOD - The premiere week edition of Tuesday's "Voice" increased by +25% in 18-49 rating (from a 3.49 to a 4.37) and 2.6 million viewers overall (12.3 million to 14.9 million) going from L+SD to L+7.
· Upscale: Tuesday's "Voice" is delivering a solidly upscale audience, indexing at a 119 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes.
"Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 4.5 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) retained 92% of last week's rating in 18-49, despite moving last night to the 8 p.m. hour after four weeks at 10 p.m.
· Is currently up week to week in total viewers (4.475 million vs. 4.452 million).
· Ranked #2 in the 8 p.m. hour among ABC, CBS,
NBC and
FOX in total viewers as well as women 25-54.
· Tied for #2 in the slot among the Big 4 in adults 25-54.
· Will add viewership via time-shifting and VOD - The Sept. 21 telecast of "Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris" grew by +22% in 18-49 rating (from a 2.09 to a 2.56) and 1.1 million viewers overall (5.9 million to 7.0 million) going from L+SD to L+7..
· Upscale: "Best Time Ever" is delivering a strong upscale audience, indexing at a 122 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current," including L+3, 100 represents an average concentration of those homes).
In Late-Night Metered Markets Tuesday Night:
· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.7/7; "Late Show with Stephen Colbert," 2.4/6; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.6/4.
· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.0/5; "Late Show," 0.6/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.
· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.
· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.3/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.1/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).
· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
