With NBC's "America's Got Talent," "American Ninja Warrior" and "I Can Do That" generating three of the week's top four adult 18-49 ratings among primetime non-sports shows on the Big 4 networks, NBC has finished #2 for the week of June 8-14 in adults 18-49 and virtually all other key demographics.
Counting sports programs,
NBC delivered four of the week's top 10 on the Big 4 in 18-49, with Saturday's coverage of NHL Stanley Cup Final hockey joining "Talent," "Ninja" and "I Can Do That" among the week's top programs.
According to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research,
NBC averaged a 1.2 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49 and 4.9 million viewers overall for the week.
"America's Got Talent" ranked #4 for the week overall among Big 4 primetime programs in adults 18-49 behind three
NBA FINALS telecasts on
ABC and was the #1 non-sports program or tied for #1 in total viewers, adults, men and women 18-49; adults and men 18-34; adults, men and women 25-54; teens 12-17 and kids 2-11.
"American Ninja Warrior" was the #2 entertainment telecast on the Big 4 last week, behind only "Talent," in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, kids 2-11 and teens 12-17 and tied for #1 with "Talent" in men 18-49 and men 25-54.
Joining "Talent" and "Ninja" in the week's top 25 for Big 4 primetime programs in adults 18-49 were Saturday's Games 5 of NHL Stanley Cup Final hockey (#7), Tuesday's "I Can Do That" (tied for #8), Thursday's "Dateline NBC" (tied for #13) and Monday's "The Island" (tied for #19). Rankings exclude sports pre- and post-game shows.
For the 52-week 2014-15 season to date,
NBC ranks #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and is #1 or tied for #1 among those nets in men 18-49 and adults and men 18-34.
In total viewers,
NBC is #2 for the season, and running within 7% of its year-ago Olympics-boosted average (8.4 million vs. 9.0 million), making this season and last NBC's two top-scoring seasons in total viewers at this point since the 2006-07 season. This is the second year in a row
NBC has ranked #2 in total viewers at this point in the season, marking first two times since 2003-04 that
NBC has ranked as high as #2 in total viewers at this point.
Primetime averages for the week of June 8-14 in adults 18-49 are: ABC, 3.1/11; NBC, 1.2/4; Fox, 1.0/4; CBS, 0.7/3; and CW, 0.3/1. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: ABC, 9.0 million; CBS, 5.0 million; NBC, 4.9 million; Fox, 3.4 million; and CW, 0.9 million.
"Most current" averages for the 52-week 2014-15 season to date are: NBC, 2.3/8; CBS, 2.2/7; ABC, 2.2/7; Fox, 1.9/6; and CW, 0.8/3. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 10.8 million; NBC, 8.4 million; ABC, 7.9 million; Fox, 5.6 million; and CW, 2.1 million.
NBC highlights for the week of June 8-14:
Monday
"American Ninja Warrior" (2.1/7 in 18-49, 7.0 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) delivered the show's highest adult 18-49 rating since July 28, 2014 and equaled its high since June 4, 2012 with the show's third regular telecast on
NBC (2.2 from 9-10 p.m.). The 2.1 ties the third-best "American Ninja Warrior" rating to date (behind only that 2.2 and the 2.4 for the show's May 21, 2012 debut as a regular
NBC series). In total viewers, this week's 7.0 million is a new series record, topping the prior record, set one week earlier, by +2% (7.0 million vs. 6.9 million). "American Ninja Warrior has now grown week-to-week this summer in both its second and third weeks in both 18-49 and total viewers. "American Ninja Warrior" was the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and all key adult-male demos. Versus the same night last year "American Ninja Warrior" was up +24% in 18-49 rating (2.1 vs. 1.7 from 9-11 p.m. on June 9, 2014) and up +42% or 2.1 million persons in total viewers (7.0 million vs. 4.9 million).
"Live Plus Three Day" Ratings: "American Ninja Warrior" grew by +15% in 18-49 rating going from "live plus same day" to "live plus three day" Nielsens (from a 2.06 rating to a 2.37) and by 852,000 viewers overall (from 7.0 million to 7.8 million). The 0.31 increase in 18-49 is "Ninja's" biggest L+3 gain to date. In L+3, it was the top "Ninja" in 18-49 since June 4, 2012 and a record high in total viewers.
"Live Plus Seven Day" Ratings: "American Ninja Warrior" has grown by +16% in 18-49 rating going from "live plus same day" to "live plus seven day" ratings (from a 1.78 to a 2.06) and 707,000 viewers overall (5.9 million to 6.6 million).
"The Island" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) maintained 100% of the previous week's rating in 18-49 (1.1 vs. 1.1) and retained 99% in total viewers (3.6 million vs. 3.7 million). In the time period, "The Island" ranked #1 among ABC,
CBS and
NBC in adults 18-49 as well as men 18-49, men 25-54 and adults, men and women 18-34. L+3: "The Island" increased by +18% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.10 to 1.30). In total viewers, "The Island" grew by 509,000 persons (from 3.6 million to 4.1 million). L+7: "The Island" has increased by an average of +17% in 18-49 rating this season (from a 1.15 to a 1.35) and 648,000 viewers overall (3.7 million to 4.4 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Tuesday
"America's Got Talent" (2.3/8 in 18-49, 10.4 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) ranked as the #1 Big 4 telecast of the night, excluding ABC's NBA programming, in every key measure - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers. Despite facing
NBA FINALS competition, "America's Got Talent" retained 96% of both the prior week's 2.4 in 18-49 and 10.8 million in total viewers. L+3: "America's Got Talent" increased by +26% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (2.29 to 2.88). In total viewers, "Talent" grew by 2.0 million persons (from 10.4 million to 12.4 million). L+7: Originals of Tuesday's "America's Got Talent" have grown by an average of +35% in 18-49 rating this season (from a 2.63 to a 3.54) and 2.7 million viewers overall (11.1 million to 13.8 million) going from L+SD to L+7.
"I Can Do That" (1.6/5 in 18-49, 5.5 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) grew week to week by +7% in 18-49 (1.6 vs. 1.5) and +3% in total viewers (5.522 million vs. 5.340 million) despite facing high-rated
NBA FINALS competition on
ABC this week. The 1.6 rating in 18-49 is the highest rating for any first-year summer series on the Big 4 since the "I Can Do That" premiere on May 26 did a 1.8. Excluding ABC's NBA programming, "I Can Do That" delivered the #2 rating of the night on the Big 4 in every key demographic, behind only "Talent." L+3: "I Can Do That" grew by +16% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.56 to 1.81). In total viewers, "I Can Do That" increased by 707,000 persons (from 5.5 million to 6.2 million). L+7: "I Can Do That" is increasing by an average +16% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.77 to a 2.05) and 873,000 viewers overall (6.4 million to 7.3 million) going from L+SD to L+7.
Wednesday
An encore telecast of "I Can Do That" averaged a 0.6/3 in 18-49 and 2.4 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET.
A rebroadcast of "American Ninja Warrior" (1.0/3 in 18-49, 3.4 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) grew by +38% from its first half-hour to its fourth in 18-49 rating (0.8 to 1.1) and by +32% in total viewers (3.0 million to 3.9 million). For its second hour from 10-11 p.m., the "American Ninja" encore ranked #1 among those nets in all key adult-male demos.
Thursday
"Dateline NBC" (1.2/5 in 18-49, 6.5 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) grew +9% week to week in 18-49 (1.2 vs. 1.1) to equal the show's top Thursday rating since April 2 (1.3). In the key news demo of adults 25-54 (1.7), "Dateline NBC" also matched its high since April 2 (1.8) and in total viewers, it was the most-watched "Dateline" since that same date. Excluding ABC's NBA-themed programming, "Dateline NBC" tied for #2 for the night among Big 4 primetime shows in adults 18-49, behind only CBS's "Big Bang" encore and ranked #1 for the night among Big 4 primetime shows in women 18-49 and women 25-54. In the time period, "Dateline NBC" ranked #1 among the Big 4 nets in total viewers. L+7: Thursday's "Dateline" is growing by an average of +20% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.04 to a 1.25) and 746,000 viewers overall (5.6 million to 6.3 million) going from L+SD to L+7.
"Aquarius" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) grew week to week by +14% in adults 18-49 (0.8 vs. 0.7). L+3: The prior week's "Aquarius" increased by +31% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (0.73 to 0.96). In total viewers, "Aquarius" grew by 1.0 million persons (from 3.9 million to 4.9 million). L+7: "Aquarius" is growing by an average of +42% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.05 to a 1.49) and 1.8 million viewers overall (5.7 million to 7.5 million) going from L+SD to L+7.
"Hannibal" (0.5/2 in 18-49, 1.7 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) retained its full rating from half-hour to half in adults, men an women 25-54; men and women 18-49; and adults and men 18-34, despite the 10 p.m. hour.
L+3: The prior week's "Hannibal" increased by +42% in 18-49 rating going from L+SD to L+7 (0.67 to 0.95) and by 838,000 persons in total viewers (2.6 million to 3.4 million).
Friday
From 8-10 p.m., an encore telecast of "America's Got Talent" averaged a 0.8/4 in 18-49 and 3.8 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its fourth, the "Talent" encore grew by +29% in adults 18-49 (0.7 to 0.9) and by +22% in adults 25-54 (0.9 to 1.1).
"Dateline NBC" (1.0/4 in 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) tied for #1 in the time period among ABC,
CBS and
NBC in men 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. From its first half-hour to its second, "Dateline NBC" grew in adults, men and women 25-54, plus total viewers, despite the 10 p.m. hour. L+7: Friday's "Dateline" is increasing by an average of +26% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.17 to a 1.47) and 946,000 viewers overall (5.9 million to 6.9 million) going from L+SD to L+7.
Saturday
NBC dominated the night, ranking #1 in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key measures with
NBC Sports coverage of NHL Stanley Cup Final Hockey, featuring the Chicago Blackhawks at the Tampa Bay Lightning (1.7/8 in 18-49, 5.3 million viewers overall from 8:08-11:02 p.m. ET). From 8-11 p.m.,
NBC averaged a 1.6 rating in 18-49 and 5.2 million viewers overall, giving
NBC its top Saturday rating in 18-49 since Jan. 10 (1.9 with an NFL Playoff overrun) and its most-watched Saturday since Feb. 21 (5.3 million with "Dateline Mystery" and "SNL Vintage").
Sunday
"Dateline NBC" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall from 7-8 p.m. ET) grew +14% week to week in adults 18-49 (0.8 vs. 0.7) and by +9% in adults 25-54 (1.2 vs. 1.1). "Dateline NBC" tied "60 Minutes" as the #1 non-sports choice in the slot among the Big 4 networks, behind only ABC's NBA-themed programming, in adults 18-49, as well as adults 25-54, and was #1 outright among non-sports Big 4 shows in the slot in women 18-49 and women 25-54.
"Dateline NBC: My Kid Would Never Do That" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) ranked as the #1 non-sports choice in the slot on the Big 4, behind only ABC's NBA coverage, in adults 18-49, as well as women 18-49, men 18-34 (tie) and adults, men and women 25-54. "Dateline NBC: My Kid Would Never Do That" tied as the #1 non-sports show of the night on the Big 4 in adults 18-49 and was the #1 non-sports show outright on those nets in adults 25-54 (with a 1.3 rating).
