NBC's AMERICA'S GOT TALENT Holds Off Ratings Competition

NBC (7.40 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.2, #1) held off the competition on Tuesday with a new AMERICA'S GOT TALENT (12.22 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.4, #1) and the two-hour season premiere of "Love in the Wild" (4.99 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.6, #4).

Here are the other highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night:

FOX (4.82 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.1, #2) then took home a competitive second place with night two of "Hell's Kitchen" (4.85 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 2.1, #T2) and "MasterChef" (4.79 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 2.1, #T2).

Next up was CBS (7.21 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T3) and its all-repeat lineup of "NCIS" (8.54 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #7), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (7.37 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T5) and "48 Hours Mystery" (5.74 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #8).

Meanwhile, ABC (5.60 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T3) offered up repeats of "Last Man Standing" (3.29 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T9), another "Last Man Standing" (3.05 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T9) and the two-hour special "Concert for the Queen: A Diamond Jubilee Celebration with Katie Couric" (6.81 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T5).

And finally, week two of "The Catalina" (0.81 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #11) and a repeat of "The L.A. Complex" (0.67 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.2, #12) on The CW (0.74 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Catalina" delivered a 0.3 rating while "Complex" posted a 0.3 rating.

In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.3/6; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.3/6; and ABC's combo of "Nightline," 3.1/7; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.5/4.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.7/3; "Late Show," 0.5/2; "Nightline," 0.8/8; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2.

At 12:35 a.m., "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.1/4 in metered-market households) tied CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.1/4 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2 with an encore).

At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (6/7/11):

ABC (11.16 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 4.5, #1) claimed the top spot on Tuesday with its mix of "Jimmy Kimmel: Game Night" (6.41 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 2.2, #5), "NBA Countdown" (7.36 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.9, #4) and the "NBA Finals, Game 4" (13.30 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 5.5, #1).

NBC (12.40 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.2, #2) then was bumped to second place with new episodes of "America's Got Talent" (12.70 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 3.6, #3) and "The Voice" (12.25 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 4.5, #2).

Next up was CBS (7.90 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4) with encores of "NCIS" (8.92 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T7), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (8.82 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T7) and "The Good Wife" (5.96 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.9, #11).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.65 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.5, #3) offered up night two of "Masterchef" (4.53 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.9, #6) followed by repeats of "Raising Hope" (2.73 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T9) and another "Raising Hope" (2.82 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T9).

And finally, repeats of "One Tree Hill" (0.73 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.3, #12) and "Hellcats" (0.53 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #13) on The CW (0.63 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) rounded out the night.

In late-night metered market ratings (via NBC's press release):
In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 3.5/8; and CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 2.4/6. ABC's "Nightline" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" were delayed by an NBA overrun.

In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 1.3/5; and "Late Show," 0.6/2.

At 12:35 a.m., "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.7/6 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.2/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.8/5 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2).

At 1:35 a.m., Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 1.1/5 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.5/4 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
