"American Ninja Warrior" (2.0/7 in 18-49, 6.8 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) ranked as the #1 telecast of the night on the Big 4 in adults 18-49. "Ninja Warrior" won the highly competitive time period versus ABC's "The Bachelorette" and Fox's season debut of "So You Think You Can Dance" in adults 18-49,adults 25-54, total viewers and other key measures.
"American Ninja Warrior" is currently setting a series record in total viewers (6.778 million, slightly ahead of the prior record, 6.777 million on June 4, 2012), pending updates.
"American Ninja Warrior" grew +11% versus last week's season premiere in adults 18-49 (2.0 vs. 1.8) and is up by +16% in total viewers (6.778 million vs. 5.865 million). Note that last week's 1.8 in18-49 tied "Ninja Warrior" for the #2 primetime show of the week on the Big 4.
"The Island" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) maintained 100% of last week's series premiere rating in 18-49 (1.2 vs. 1.2) and is also in line with last week's total-viewer result (3.763 million vs. 3.749 million).
"The Island" ranks #1 in the time period among the Big 4 networks in men 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.
In Late-Night Metered Markets Monday Night:
In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.8/7; CBS's "Mentalist" rebroadcast, 1.8/5; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 2.0/5.
In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 1.1/6; "The Mentalist" rebroadcast, 0.3/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3.
From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.
From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.2/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.0/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2).
At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
For the Week:
With "America's Got Talent," "American Ninja Warrior" and "I Can Do That" delivering the top three primetime ratings of the week on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49,
NBC has won the week of May 25-31 among those nets in adults 18-49 and all other key measures (including a tie for #1 in women 18-34). According to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research,
NBC averaged a 1.3 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 5.5 million viewers overall for the week.
"Talent" ranks #1 for the week among Big 4 primetime programs in every key measure except men 18-34, where
NBC Sports' Saturday coverage of the Anaheim Ducks-Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup Playoff hockey game ranked #1. "Talent" also took the top spot for the week in kids 2-11 and teens 12-17.
The week included Tuesday's debut of "I Can Do That," the top summer series premiere on the Big 4 networks in nearly two years, since "Under the Dome" launched on
CBS in June 2013.
NBC matched its year-ago weekly average in adult 18-49 rating (1.3 vs. 1.3) and grew +5% in total viewers (5.5 million vs. 5.2 million), making
NBC the only Big 4 network to maintain its 18-49 rating for the same week last year and improve on its year-ago total-viewer average.
NBC placed six shows among the week's top 15 primetime programs on ABC, CBS,
NBC and
FOX in adults 18-49: Tuesday's "America's Got Talent" (#1), Monday's "American Ninja Warrior" (tied for #2), Tuesday's premiere of "I Can Do That" (tied for #2), Saturday's Ducks-Blackhawks hockey (tied for #6), Thursday's "Dateline NBC" (tied for #10) and Monday's debut of "The Island" (tied for #10). Also finishing among the week's top telecasts was Friday's "Dateline" (tied for #15), Thursday's premiere of "Aquarius" (tied for #15), Wednesday's "iHeartRadio Country Festival 2015" (tied for #27) and Sunday's "Dateline" (tied for #27).
For the 52-week 2014-15 season to date,
NBC ranks #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and is #1 or tied for #1 among those nets in men 18-49 and adults and men 18-34.
In total viewers,
NBC is #2 for the season, and running within 7% of its year-ago Olympics-boosted average (8.5 million vs. 9.1 million), making this season and last NBC's two top-scoring seasons in total viewers at this point since the 2006-07 season. This is the second year in a row
NBC has ranked #2 in total viewers at this point in the season, marking first two times since 2003-04 that
NBC has ranked higher than #4 in total viewers at this point.
