NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises Launches Nationwide MES DE LA MUJER Campaign Celebrating Important Contributions of Latina Women In The US  Image

In celebration of International Women's Day today and Women's History Month in March, NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises announced the launch of "Mes de la Mujer" (Women's Month), a nationwide campaign that celebrates Latinas in the United States and their diverse contributions to our society. Under the banner of its award-winning CORPORATE social responsibility initiative, "El Poder En Ti" (The Power in You), the campaign kicks off today featuring in-show integrations, on-air promos and digital and social activations. In addition, Telemundo national and local female talent will take part in Women's Month events as part of the campaign.

"It is a crucial time in our nation's history to be part of the global conversation on gender and highlight women's importance and contributions across all sectors," said Mónica Gil, Executive Vice President, NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises. "Women across NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, both on and off camera, play a critical role in our workforce, and as we celebrate Women's Month, we hope to promote the advancement of Latina women across the country."

The campaign will feature a series of segments and special reports across network shows including "Al Rojo Vivo," "Un Nuevo Día," "Suelta La Sopa" and "Noticias Telemundo," among others. Telemundo's female talent, including Felicidad Aveleyra, Maria Celestes, Vanessa Hauc, Adamari LOPEZ and Ana Maria Polo will take part in International Women's Day events across the country. In addition, on-air promos will run throughout the month on Telemundo.

Online, the campaign will offer videos and informative content throughout the month across all Telemundo digital and social accounts that will celebrate stories of Latina bravery and empowerment. Viewers can follow the campaign's activities on social media via the #TelemundoMujer hashtag.

For the first time ever, Telemundo Deportes will introduce the first woman to provide in-match commentary for a FIFA Men's World Cup in the U.S., regardless of language. Viviana Vila will serve as analyst for select matches during the tournament joining Telemundo Deportes' renowned team of play-by-play commentators and analysts. The Argentine sports journalist has been covering soccer for radio and television in her native country since 1999.

This year, several of Telemundo's leading women were selected as part ofPeople En Espanol's "25 Mujeres más poderosas" (25 most powerful women), celebrating the 25 most influential women in the Hispanic community. Telemundo talent Fernanda Castillo was honored as "la camaleona" (the chameleon), Rashel Diaz as "la incansable comunicadora" (the tireless communicator) and Marjorie de Sousa as "la renacida" (the reborn). NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises' executive Monica Gil was also selected as "la comunicadora" (the communicator). The leading women will be honored at an event on March 16 in Miami, FL.
