NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises Kicks Off SEMANA DE TU SALUD Campaign  Image

NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises today announced "Semana de Tu Salud" (Health Week), a new community-oriented health and wellness campaign to inform, educate and empower U.S. Hispanics on common health issues and preventive measures. Under the banner of its award-winning CORPORATE social responsibility initiative, "El Poder En Ti" (The Power Within You), the campaign will challenge the Latino community to live healthier lives and ensure millions of families have resources and access to screenings needed to prevent the major diseases that impact the Hispanic community - cancer, diabetes, heart disease and obesity - at health fairs across the country. As part of the campaign, Telemundo launched the "¡Haz La Promesa!" (Take the Pledge) challenge - a new community-orientated health and fitness initiative that challenges the Latino community to take the pledge to live healthier lives.

"Our focus during 'Semana de Tu Salud' is to provide preventive health screenings and wellness information to families and children across the country at no cost. And through the ¡Haz La Promesa! pledge, Latinos will be encouraged to take small steps daily toward a healthy life."

"Semana de Tu Salud," happening March 10-March 17, kicked off this past weekend across the country, with Telemundo local stations hosting "Ferias de la Salud" health fairs- where the community was able to take part in health screenings, seminars and healthy cooking demonstrations in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. and Orlando. Telemundo 47 in New York will again join with sister station NBC 4 New York for its sixth annual Health & Fitness Expo, scheduled for this June at MetLife Stadium. Various Telemundo personalities, including Jessica Carrillo of "Al Rojo Vivo," Ana Jurka of "Titulares y Mas" and Dr. Ana Maria Polo, host of "Caso Cerrado" will attend and participate in these health fairs.

In conjunction with the American Heart Association's 'Life's Simple 7' program, the campaign encourages viewers and their families to make daily changes for big improvements in overall health. The pledge includes seven key steps: get active, eat better, lose weight, control cholesterol, manage blood pressure, reduce blood sugar and stop smoking. Online, the campaign will offer videos and informative content across all Telemundo digital and social accounts to encourage viewers to live healthier lives. Viewers can follow the campaign's activities on social media via the #HazLaPromesa hashtag.
