Raquel "Rocky" Egusquiza Named to VP, Community Affairs, Hispanic Enterprises & Content at NBCUniversal effective December 9. Egusquiza will report to Joe Uva, Chairman, Hispanic Enterprises & Content, NBCUniversal and will be based in New York.
In this newly created position, Egusquiza will work closely with Uva to develop the company's short-and-long term strategic direction and planning for community relations activities as they relate to NBCU's
Telemundo Media in concert with parent company Comcast's external relations team.
"Rocky's vast experience across government, corporate and not for profit organizations will help us elevate the
Telemundo Media brands among all U.S. Latinos," said Uva. "I look forward to working with her to enhance our pro social initiatives across all of our national and local platforms."
Egusquiza was recently the
Vice President, Multicultural Markets for AARP, where she created and executed an organization-wide multicultural strategy that increased member awareness, engagement, retention and acquisition leveraging efforts across all AARP business units. She developed an external partnership strategy with national organizations aligned to supporting goals in advocacy, human resources, membership, community building, and foundation impact areas. Egusquiza also served as external spokesperson and association representative for AARP's Hispanic initiatives in the community.
From 2001 to 2009, Egusquiza served as Manager and was promoted to Director of Community Development and International Strategy for Ford Motor Company Fund, where she managed corporate relations and philanthropic initiatives for over 200 organizations and programs. In 1999-2001, she was employed by AT&T as
Vice President, Legislative Affairs, were she tracked key telecommunications business related legislation and served as a registered lobbyist with local, state legislative and executive branches of government. She also served as Director of Government Relations for South Florida during her tenure with AT&T. Additionally, Egusquiza worked with Miami-Dade County Government as Executive Director of the Dade County Legislative Delegation and Community Outreach Specialist and with the Florida Senate as a Legislative Assistant.
Egusquiza has served on the board of numerous nonprofits and currently serves as a member of the Corporate Advisory Board for the Cuban American National Council and a board member for the Smithsonian Latino Center.
Egusquiza earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Miami.
