NBCUniversal has named Jason Zajac Executive Vice President of Strategy and Business Insights. In this role, Zajac will have primary responsibility for developing the company's long-term strategy, including the evaluation and execution of growth investments across the global enterprise. Zajac also will oversee the NBCUniversal corporate research group, providing consumer and business insights across the portfolio and creating new capabilities to best support the businesses' needs. He will be based in New York City and report to NBCUniversal CFO Anand Kini.
Zajac joins NBCUniversal from the Boston Consulting Group, where he was a San Francisco-based Partner and Managing Director in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) practice. His work focused on supporting companies in the technology and digital media markets, in areas such as consumer understanding and product strategy, value chain analysis and business model optimization, partnerships and M&A, and organization design and effectiveness.
Previously, Zajac held multiple senior management roles at leading technology companies in Silicon Valley, including Palm, Yahoo!, and Hewlett-Packard. At HP, Zajac was Vice President of Applications and Services, where he led business development and partner management across the PC business, and was responsible for developer relations and business development for the webOS app catalog. At Yahoo!, Zajac held positions including VP of Strategy for the Search and Marketplace group, General Manager of multimedia search, Yahoo! Video, and Flickr, and ran the Strategy, Finance and Business Operations functions for the Yahoo! Network Division. Prior to Yahoo!, Zajac worked at Palm where he led corporate strategy and business development and was responsible for market research and long-range product planning. In these roles, Zajac has been involved in the acquisition, integration, and management of more than half a dozen purchased companies.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in International Relations with Distinction from Stanford University and his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar.
