NBCSN to Air Six NHL Matches This Week

NBCSN presents six NHL matchups this week, featuring teams with nine of the last 10 NHL MVP winners, rematches of the 2014 Eastern and Western Conference Finals, and a Wednesday Night Rivalry showdown between Sidney Crosby's Pittsburgh Penguins and Alex Ovechkin's Washington Capitals on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET. NHL LIVE - NBC Sports Group's pre- and post-game studio show - will provide coverage on-site from "Super Bowl Central" in downtown Phoenix, Ariz., as part of NBC Sports' multi-platform coverage surrounding SUPER BOWL XLIX, which airs on NBC on Sunday, Feb. 1.

Coverage also features rematches of the 2014 Eastern and Western Conference Finals, beginning with a matchup between Patrick Kane and the Chicago Blackhawks against Drew Doughty and the Los Angeles Kings on NBCSN's Wednesday Nightcap at 10:30 p.m. ET.

NBCSN's Thursday night doubleheader begins with a rematch of the 2014 Eastern Conference Final, whenP.K. Subban and the Montreal Canadiens travel to Madison Square Garden to face Henrik Lundqvist and the New York Rangers at 7 p.m. ET. Doubleheader action continues at 10 p.m. ET, as Logan Couture and the San Jose Sharks host Ryan Getzlaf and the Anaheim Ducks. Coverage continues on SUPER BOWL Sunday at 1 p.m. ET, when T.J. Oshie and the St. Louis Blues face the Washington Capitals.

This week's coverage begins tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. ET with a matchup featuring Steven Stamkosand the Tampa Bay Lightning against Eric Staal and the Carolina Hurricanes.

NHL LIVE begins at 7 p.m. ET tomorrow and Wednesday, and starts at 6:30 p.m. ET on Thursday. Liam McHugh and Kathryn Tappen will host this week's coverage on-site at "Super Bowl Central" in downtown Phoenix, alongside former players and analysts Mike Milbury, Keith Jones and Jeremy Roenick.

Teams featured in this week's coverage boast nine of the last 10 winners of the Hart Memorial Trophy, the NHL's annual most valuable player award; Sidney Crosby (2007 & 2014), Evgeni Malkin (2012), Alex Ovechkin (2008, 2009 & 2013), Corey Perry (2011), Martin St. Louis (2004), and Joe Thornton (2006).

WEDNESDAY NIGHT RIVALRY - PENGUINS-CAPITALS - WEDNESDAY AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The Capitals and Penguins kick off the second half of NBCSN's 2014-15 Wednesday Night Rivalrycoverage this week. Washington (24-13-9, 57 pts) entered the All-Star break with points in 19 of its last 22 games (14-3-5) to pull within three points of Pittsburgh in the Metropolitan Division standings, but went 0-2-1 in its final three games, including a 5-4 shootout loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Jan. 20. The Penguins (26-12-8, 60 pts) currently sit three points behind the division-leading New York Islanders.

Emmy Award-winning play-by-play commentator and SPORTS ILLUSTRATED 2014 Media Person of the YearMike 'Doc' Emrick, and Emmy Award-winning 'Inside-the-Glass' analyst Pierre McGuire will have the call of NBCSN's Wednesday Night Rivalry matchup between the Penguins and Capitals from Verizon Center in downtown Washington, D.C.

WEDNESDAY NIGHTCAP - BLACKHAWKS-KINGS - WEDNESDAY AT 10:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

NBCSN's Wednesday nightcap features a rematch of the 2014 Western Conference Final between the Chicago Blackhawks and Los Angeles Kings. Chicago returns to action for the first time since theirWednesday Night Rivalry matchup last week in Pittsburgh, when the Blackhawks defeated the Penguins by a score of 3-2 in a shootout. The Blackhawks (30-15-2, 62 pts) are tied with the Blues for second place in the Central Division, and boast the best goal differential (plus-40) in the league. The Kings (20-15-12, 52 pts) are fifth in the Pacific Division, and look to jumpstart their second half with a win at STAPLES Center, where they have a 15-6-6 record this season.

Dave Strader (play-by-play), Eddie Olczyk (analyst), and Brian Engblom (Inside-The-Glass analyst) will call the action from Los Angeles.

CANADIENS-RANGERS - THURSDAY AT 7 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

Thursday night's rematch of the 2014 Eastern Conference Final between the Canadiens and Rangers features two of the hottest teams in the NHL. Montreal begins the second half of the season with a 9-2-1 record in its last 12 games, while the Rangers went 16-3-0 in their last 19 games prior to the All-Star break.

The Rangers (26-12-8, 58 pts) trail Pittsburgh by two points in the Metropolitan Division, and face the division-leading Islanders tomorrow night. The Canadiens (29-13-3, 61 points) trail Tampa Bay by three points for the Eastern Conference lead, and host Dallas tomorrow.

John Forslund (play-by-play) and Pierre McGuire (Inside-The-Glass analyst) will have the call from Madison Square Garden in New York.

DUCKS-SHARKS - THURSDAY AT 10 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The league-leading Ducks travel north to San Jose to face the Sharks in matchup of the top two teams in the Pacific Division. Anaheim (31-10-6, 68 pts) has won seven of its last eight games, but three of its 10 losses this season have been against the Sharks, including a 3-0 loss to San Jose on New Year's Eve. The Sharks (25-17-6, 56 pts) will play the fifth game of a seven-game homestand, which included a 4-2 win over the Kings on NBCSN's Wednesday Nightcap last week.

Dave Strader (play-by-play) and Brian Engblom (Inside-The-Glass analyst) will call the action from the SAP Center at San Jose in San Jose, Calif.

BLUES-CAPITALS - SUNDAY AT 1 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

The Blues (29-13-4, 62 pts) travel to Washington, D.C., to face Ovechkin and the Capitals on Sunday afternoon. St. Louis entered the All-Star break with points in eight straight games (7-0-1). On Nov. 15, St. Louis defeated Washington 4-1 at Scottrade Center in their only previous meeting this season.

Mike "Doc" Emrick (play-by-play), Eddie Olczyk (analyst), and Pierre McGuire (Inside-The-Glass analyst) will have the call from Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.

LIGHTNING-HURRICANES - TOMORROW AT 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

Steven Stamkos and the Eastern Conference-leading Tampa Bay Lightning begin the second half of their season in Raleigh tomorrow night against the Hurricanes. The Lightning (30-14-4, 64 pts) visit the Hurricanes (16-25-5, 37 pts) for the first time this season, but have earned two 2-1 wins at home against Carolina this season.

John Forslund (play-by-play) and Anson Carter (analyst) will call the game from PNC Arena in Raleigh, N.C.

COLLEGE HOCKEY - NEW HAMPSHIRE AT NOTRE DAME - FRIDAY AND SATURDAY ON NBC SPORTS LIVE EXTRA AND NBCSN

NBCSN and NBC Sports Live Extra will combine to present a pair of Hockey East matchups between the New Hampshire Wildcats and Notre Dame Fighting Irish this weekend. New Hampshire makes its fourth appearance on NBCSN on Saturday, and is 1-0-2 in games on NBCSN this season. Notre Dame is 5-4-3 in Hockey East games this season.

Friday's game at 7:30 p.m. ET will stream on Live Extra, and NBCSN will carry live coverage of Saturday's game at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Steve Schlanger (play-by-play) and Anson Carter (analyst) will provide commentary of Saturday's game from the Compton Family Ice Arena in South Bend, Ind.

NBCSN ADDS CANADIENS-ISLANDERS TO TELECAST SCHEDULE - SATURDAY, MARCH 14 AT 7:30 P.M. ET

NBCSN has added the matchup between the Montreal Canadiens and New York Islanders on Saturday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. ET to its NHL telecast schedule. The Canadiens-Islanders game is the second game featuring the Islanders that NBCSN has added to its original schedule this season. Earlier in the 2014-15 season, NBCSN added a game featuring New York Islanders and San Jose Sharks on Saturday, Nov. 1.

The Islanders currently lead the Metropolitan Division with 63 points (31-14-1), and are led by captain John Tavares, who tied an NHL ALL-STAR GAME record with four goals in last night's NHL ALL-STAR GAME on NBCSN.
