NBCSN presents No. 1 Minnesota (5-0-1) at No. 3 Notre Dame (6-2-0) on Friday at 8 p.m. ET. Steve Schlanger (play-by-play) and Anson Carter (analyst) will have the call from Compton Family Ice Arena in South Bend, Ind. Friday night's game is the first in a two-game weekend series, and NBC Sports Live Extra, NBC Sports Group's live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices, and tablets, will provide live coverage of both games, concluding on Saturday night at 7 p.m. ET.

The Golden Gophers enter Friday's action as the unanimous No. 1 team in the country, following a 6-1 win over Boston College on Oct. 27. The Fighting Irish are coming off a 3-2 win at Vermont last Saturday. Minnesota forward Sam Warning currently ranks second in the nation in points per game, totaling 12 points (5g,7a) in six games, while Notre Dame goaltender Steven Summerhays boasts the nation's third-lowest goals against average (1.49), along with his 6-1-0 record.

Schlanger on Minnesota-Notre Dame: "You have two marquee programs, both highly-ranked, with compelling individual and team storylines at a tremendous building with an electric, sell-out crowd...this is what College Hockey is all about."

In their last meeting on Jan. 8, 2013, which was a battle of the nation's top-ranked teams at the time, No. 1 Minnesota earned a 4-1 victory over No. 2 Notre Dame at Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis, Minn. The two teams have both been ranked in the Top 5 in their last three meetings. Friday's game is Minnesota's first trip to South Bend since 1980, when current Gophers head coach Don Lucia was a defenseman at Notre Dame.
