After being in the works at the NBC network for several seasons, Deadline reports that Bryan Fuller's 'Munsters' reboot will most likely not go to series. The project, to be titled MOCKINGBIRD LANE was to be a reworked version of the 1960's classic comedy 'The Munsters.' The name referred to the postal address of the run-down Victorian-style mansion at which the family resides. X MEN scribe Bryan Singer was set to direct and executive produce the TV series.
According to the report, while there is no final decision by NBC, network executives are "leaning towards passing on the project" after ordering it to pilot in November of 2011.
The original series aired on CBS from 1964-66. The newer vsersion was to have a darker edge to it and was to uncover the background of the series' lead characters, Herman and Lily Munster. Singer had assembled a cast led by Jerry O’Connell (Seminar) as family patriarch Herman Munster, PORTIA DE ROSSI as his wife Lily and Eddie Izzard as Grandpa. 'The Performers' star Cheyenne Jackson was reportedly to make a guest appearance on the sitcom.
