NBC Wins The Week of June 11-17 In 18-49  Image

NBC has won the primetime ratings week of June 11-17 in the key demographic of adults 18-49, led by the "America's Got Talent," the week's #1 primetime telecast on the Big 4 networks; "World of Dance," tied for #2; and "American Ninja Warrior," tied for #4; according to "live plus same day" figures from Nielsen Media Research.

Additionally, NBC got strong results from Thursday's "Little Big Shots" (tied for #11) and encores of "Talent" and "Ninja" plus Thursday's season premiere of "Marlon" (all tied for #16).

The broad-based hit "America's Got Talent" also ranked #1 for the week on the Big 4 networks in adults 25-54, adults 18-34 , adults 50-and-older, teens 12-17 and kids 2-11.

In addition to NBC's weeklong win in adults 18-49, the network led among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in every other key demographic (including a tie in men 18-34).

In adults 18-49, NBC is dominating the current primetime season, with leads over #2 ABC, CBS and FOX of +0.6 of a rating point or +40% (2.1 vs. 1.5 for ABC and CBS). The +40% advantage is the best for any #1 network at this point in the season in the 30-year history of Nielsen's current people-meter sample.

Season to date, NBC also ranks #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in every other key demographic - adults, men and women 18-34; men and women 18-49; and adults, men and women 25-54. In total viewers, NBC is running within 152,000 persons of #1, NBC's most competitive position at this point in the season in 16 years, since 2001-02. Even excluding all sports, NBC is running closer to CBS at this point in the season in total viewers than it's been in 15 years, since 2003-04 (currently within 1.542 million total viewers of CBS excluding sports, best since the gap was 688,000 in 2002-03).

Counting entertainment programming only, NBC ranks #1 or tied for #1 for the season in adults, men and women 18-49; adults and women 25-54; and adults and men 18-34.

Weekly ratings are "live plus same day" figures from Nielsen Media Research unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date ratings are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

NBC highlights for the week of June 11-17:

Monday

An encore telecast of "Running Wild with Bear Grylls" averaged a 0.6/3 in 18-49 and 2.7 million viewers overall from 8-8:52 p.m. ET).

A rebroadcast of "American Ninja Warrior: All-Stars Special" (0.7/3 in 18-49, 2.7 million viewers overall from 9:30-10 p.m. ET) maintained a 0.7 in 18-49 through its three half-hours. For its third half-hour from 10:30-11 p.m., the "Ninja" encore ranked #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.

Tuesday

NBC ranked #1 Tuesday night versus the Big 4 competition combined in every key measure, leading six of six half-hours in adults 18-49 and total viewers.

"America's Got Talent" (2.3/10 in 18-49, 11.5 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) beat the timeslot's Big 4 competition combined by +44% in adults 18-49 (2.3 vs. a combined 1.6), while also topping ABC, CBS and FOX combined in total viewers and every other key category. Week to week, "Talent" was up +5% in 18-49 (2.3 vs. 2.2) and +2% in total viewers (11.5 million vs. 11.241 million) and scored as the #1 show of the night in 18-49, total viewers and every other key category. L+3: "Talent" increased by +28% in 18-49 (2.25 to 2.89) and +2.6 million viewers overall (11.5 million to 14.1 million) going from L+SD to L+3, for the biggest L+3 lifts of the night in 18-49 rating and total viewers. L+7: Last summer, the Tuesday "Talent" grew by +33% in 18-49 rating (from a 2.63 to a 3.50) and +3.1 million viewers overall (12.9 million to 16.0 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "Talent" is generating a strong upscale audience, indexing at a 110 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes.

"World of Dance" (1.4/7 in 18-49, 6.1 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) dominated the time period in every key measure, topping the combined ABC-CBS competition in all key demographics and beating the combined original ABC-CBS competition by a +40% margin in adults 18-49 (1.4 vs. a combined 1.0). "World" was the #2 show of the night on the Big 4 in 18-49, total viewers and every other key measure, behind only "America's Got Talent." L+3: "World" grew by +32% in 18-49 (1.44 to 1.90) and +1.5 million viewers overall (6.1 million to 7.6 million) going from L+SD to L+3, for the biggest L+3 lift of the night on the Big 4 in 18-49 percentage. L+7: Last summer, "World of Dance" increased by +41% in 18-49 rating going from L+SD to L+7 (from a 1.84 to a 2.59) and +2.4 million viewers overall (7.7 million to 10.1 million). Upscale: "World of Dance" is generating a solid upscale audience, indexing at a 106 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes.

Wednesday

"American Ninja Warrior" (1.1/5 in 18-49, 5.1 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) ranked #1 in the 8-10 p.m. timeslot among the Big 4 networks versus Fox's combination of "MasterChef" and the premiere of "Gordon Ramsay's 24 Hours to Hell & Back" in adults 18-49 and total viewers. "Ninja" tied as the top-rated show of the night in adults 18-49. L+3: "Ninja" increased by +14% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+7 (1.06 to 1.21) and +493,000 viewers overall (5.1 million to 5.6 million). L+7: Last summer, "American Ninja Warrior" grew by +21% going from L+SD to L+7 in 18-49 rating (from a 1.44 to a 1.74) and +943,000 viewers overall (5.9 million to 6.8 million). Upscale: "Ninja" generates a strong upscale audience, indexing at a 113 among adult 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes.

"Reverie" (0.5/2 in 18-49, 2.3 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) retained 100% week to week in 18-49 (0.5 vs. 0.5) and grew +5% in total viewers (2.3 million vs. 2.2 million). L+3: "Reverie" grew by +31% in 18-49 (0.48 to 0.63) and +801,000 viewers overall (2.3 million to 3.1 million) going from L+SD to L+3 Nielsens. Upscale: "Reverie" is delivering a solid upscale audience, indexing at a 110 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes.

Thursday

"Little Big Shots" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 5.7 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) maintained 100% of the rating for the show's prior telecast in 18-49 (0.8 vs. 0.8 on Sunday, April 29 at 8 p.m.) and 94% in total viewers (5.675 million vs. 6.040 million). Versus NBC's average in the timeslot last summer, "LBS" maintained 100% in 18-49 (0.8 vs. 0.8, L+SD excluding sports) and jumped by +1.7 million persons or +41% in total viewers (5.7 million vs. 4.0 million). L+3: "Little Big Shots" grew by +11% in 18-49 (0.80 to 0.89) and +640,000 viewers overall (5.7 million to 6.3 million) going from L+SD to L+3 Nielsens, for the biggest L+3 lift of the night in total viewers. L+7: This season, "LBS" has increased by +15% in 18-49 rating going from L+SD to L+7 (from a 0.89 to a 1.02) and +887,000 viewers overall (6.3 million to 7.2 million). With the addition of projected 35-day non-linear ratings, the "Little Big Shots" figure grows to a 1.17 in 18-49. Upscale: "Little Big Shots" is delivering a solid upscale audience, indexing at a 106 among adults 18-49 in $100K+ homes.

The second season debut of "Marlon" (0.7/3 in 18-49, 2.9 million viewers overall from 9-9:30 p.m. ET) tied for #2 and finished within 0.1 of a point of the timeslot lead among the Big 4 networks in 18-49. "Marlon" also rated within 0.1 of a point of its lead-in from "Little Big Shots" in 18-49. L+3: "Marlon" grew by +24% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+7 (0.67 to 0.83) and +444,000 viewers overall (2.9 million to 3.4 million), with the increase of +0.16 being the biggest L+3 lift of the night on the Big 4 in 18-49 rating points. L+7: Last season, "Marlon" grew by +28% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.18 to a 1.51) and +772,000 viewers overall (4.9 million to 5.6 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

A second episode of "Marlon" (0.6/2 in 18-49, 2.4 million viewers overall from 9:30-10 p.m. ET) finished within 0.1 of a point of its lead-in from the show's season premiere in 18-49 and maintained 100% in adults 18-34. L+3: The 9:30 "Marlon" increased by +27% in 18-49 (0.55 to 0.70) and +409,000 viewers overall (2.4 million to 2.8 million) going from L+SD to L+7, for the biggest L+3 lift of the night on the Big 4 in 18-49 percentage.

An encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (0.5/2 in 18-49, 2.5 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) finished within 0.1 of a point of the timeslot lead among the Big 4 networks in 18-49.

Friday

An encore telecast of "American Ninja Warrior" (0.5/3 in 18-49, 2.6 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) grew +5% versus the previous week's rebroadcast in this timeslot in total viewers (2.6 million vs. 2.5 million), to the show's most-watched encore in this time period among three so far this summer. For its second hour from 9-10 p.m., "Ninja" tied for #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in adults 18-49.

"Dateline NBC" (0.6/3 in 18-49, 0.8 in adults 25-54, 3.4 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) won the timeslot among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and tied for #1 in adults 25-54. L+3: The prior Friday's "Dateline" increased by +34% in 18-49 (0.71 to 0.95) and +1.2 million viewers overall (4.1 million to 5.3 million) going from L+SD to L+3 Nielsens, for the biggest lifts of the night on the Big 4 in 18-49 rating and percentage, as well as total viewers. Upscale: Friday's "Dateline" is delivering a solid upscale audience, indexing at a 113 among adults 18-49 in $100K+ homes

Saturday

An NBC Special Event, a rebroadcast of the 1993 feature film "Jurassic Park" (0.6/3 in 18-49, 2.5 million viewers overall from 8-11 p.m. ET) tied for #1 for the night among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and won the night outright among those networks in adults 25-54. "Jurassic Park" grew +133% from its first half-hour to its sixth in 18-49 (0.3 to 0.7) and +53% in total viewers (1.9 million to 2.8 million).

Sunday

"Dateline NBC" (0.5/3 in 18-49, 0.8 in 25-54, 4.1 million viewers overall from 7-8 p.m. ET) maintained 100% versus its prior original in adults 18-49 (0.5 vs. 0.5 on June 3) and grew +6% in total viewers (4.050 million vs. 3.815 million). "Dateline" tied for #2 in the timeslot among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, within 0.1 of a point of #1 among those nets. L+7: Sunday's "Dateline" has increased by +18% this season in 18-49 rating (from a 0.61 to a 0.72) and +477,000 viewers overall (3.9 million to 4.4 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: Sunday's "Dateline" is indexing at a 122 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes (with 100 representing an average concentration of those homes).

An encore telecast of "America's Got Talent" (0.7/3 in 18-49, 3.8 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) maintained 100% of the previous week's encore in this timeslot in 18-49 (0.7 vs. 0.7) and grew +7% in total viewers (3.8 million vs. 3.6 million).

The third season debut of "Shades of Blue" (0.6/3 in 18-49, 3.5 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) finished within 0.1 of last season's May finale in adults 18-49 (0.6 vs. 0.7 on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 10 p.m.) and grew in adults 18-34. "Shades" ranked #2 in the timeslot among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and tied for #1 in adults 18-34. Versus NBC's timeslot average last summer, "Shades" was up +30% in total viewers (3.5 million vs. 2.7 million, L+SD excluding sports). L+7: Last season, "Shades" increased by +81% in 18-49 rating going from L+SD to L+7 (from a 0.78 to a 1.41) and +2.6 million viewers overall (4.4 million to 7.0 million).
