Despite FOX hosting the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, NBC has won the week in total viewers and many other key ratings measures, as well as tying for the #1 spot in 18-49, for the primetime ratings week of July 16-22 among the Big 4 networks, according to "live plus same day" figures from Nielsen Media Research.
NBC had three shows in the top 10 for the week, with Tuesday's telecast of "America's Got Talent" tied for #1 in all of television. Other NBC shows in the top 10 in broadcast were "World of Dance" at #7 and "American Ninja Warrior" at #8.
Among all programs in adults 18-49, NBC is up +0.5 and +36% vs. 2nd place CBS/ABC (tied). This is the best rating point lead for any network since the 2010-11 season and the +36% lead stands as the best first place advantage in percentage at this point in the season for any net since the 2007-08 season.
Season to date, NBC also ranks #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in every other key demographic - adults, men and women 18-34; men and women 18-49; and adults, men and women 25-54. In total viewers, NBC is running within 122,000 persons of #1, NBC's most competitive position at this point in the season in 16 years, since 2001-02. Even excluding all sports, NBC is running closer to CBS at this point in the season in total viewers than it's been in 15 years, since 2002-03 (currently within 1.373 million total viewers of CBS excluding sports, best since the gap was 586,000 in 2002-03).
Counting entertainment programming only, NBC is tied for #1 for the season in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54, and is also #1 or tied for #1 among men and women 18-49 and women 25-54.

NBC highlights for the week of July 16-22:
Monday
"American Ninja Warrior" (1.1 in 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m.) delivered its strongest Monday performance of the summer. It ranked as the #2 show of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and total viewers, increasing by +10% versus the show's prior original in 18-49 (1.1 vs. 1.0) and +4% in total viewers (5.2 million vs. 5.0 million).
"Dateline NBC" (0.9 in 18-49, 1.4 in 25-54, 4.9 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m.) had its highest-rated episode in 18-49 since Nov. 3 and easily won the timeslot against two originals. It was the third most-watched show of the night.
Tuesday
Against the MLB ALL-STAR GAME on Fox, NBC ranked #1 in total viewers Tuesday night and #2 in the 18-49 demo.
Despite the baseball competition, "America's Got Talent" (2.1 in 18-49, 11.3 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) tied for #1 program of the night in 18-49 and was also #1 in total viewers. "Talent" also remained even in the demo from a week ago.
"World of Dance" (1.3 in 18-49, 5.9 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) more than doubled the ABC and CBS competition in the hour in 18-49. "World of Dance" saw a 8% increase (1.3 vs. 1.2) in 18-49 from a week ago and was even in total viewers.
Wednesday
An encore of "Ellen's Game of Games" (0.7 in 18-49, 4.0 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) was followed by an encore of "World of Dance" (0.5 in 18-49, 2.4 million viewers from 9-10 p.m. ET).
"Reverie" (0.4 in 18-49, 1.7 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) was even in 18-49 from the previous week. In 18-49, "Reverie" has held steady at 0.4 for four straight weeks.
Thursday
An encore of "Ellen's Game of Games" (0.7 in 18-49, 3.5 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) served as the lead-in to the season-two premiere of "Trial & Error: Lady, Killer." From 9-9:30 p.m. ET, "Trial & Error" (0.6 in 18-49, 3.2 million viewers) was even with "Marlon" in the same time period. The following 9:30-10 p.m. ET episode (0.5 in 18-49, 2.7 million viewers) of "Trial & Error" retained 79% of its lead-in, which was in line with its average retention during the show's season one back-to-back episodes.
An encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (0.5 in 18-49, 2.6 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) tied for the timeslot lead among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49. The "SVU" rebroadcast retained 100% of the prior week's encore in this timeslot in 18-49 (0.5 vs. 0.5) and grew +4% in total viewers (2.6 million vs. 2.5 million).
Friday
NBC was #1 in 18-49 (0.7) and won all six half-hours in the demo.
An encore of "American Ninja Warrior" (0.6 in 18-49, 2.9 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) improved by 20% in 18-49 (0.6 vs. 0.5) from a week ago, as well as +21% in total viewers (2.9 million vs. 2.4 million). "Ninja" was also +11% vs. the prior four-week encore average in 18-49.
From 10-11 p.m., "Dateline NBC" (0.7, 3.4 million viewers overall) was the #1 program of the night in 18-49 and delivered its strongest Friday performance in two months. The episode saw a 17% increase in the demo (0.7 vs. 0.6) as well as a 13% uptick in total viewers (3.4 million vs. 3.0 million).
