NBC Claims Friday in 18-49, as 'Talent' and 'Dateline' Encores Win Their Slots Among the Big 4 Nets

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - Aug. 25, 2015 - NBC has won its fifth consecutive primetime ratings week in the key demographic of adults 18-49, with "America's Got Talent" ranking as the #1 telecast for the week of Aug. 10-16 in 18-49 and "American Ninja Warrior," "Hollywood Game Night," "Running Wild with Bear Grylls," "Dateline NBC," "Last Comic Standing," and "Mr. Robinson" also generating top-20 rankings among the week's primetime shows on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox.

NBC accounted for 9 of the week's top 20 Big 4 programs in adults 18-49 (rankings exclude sports pre- and post-game shows).

According to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research, NBC averaged a 1.1 rating, 4 share in adults 18-49 for the week and 4.5 million viewers overall. NBC rated #1 or tied for #1 for the week among the Big 4 in every key demographic - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.

"America's Got Talent" ranked #1 among the week's Big 4 primetime programs in adults 18-49, total viewers, adults 18-34, adults 25-54, teens 12-17 (tie) and kids 2-11. In total viewers, the Tuesday and Wednesday "Talent" telecasts were #1-2 on those nets.

"Talent" has ranked #1 among primetime Big 4 telecasts, excluding sports, during 13 of its 13 weeks on the schedule this summer in total viewers and 11 of 13 weeks in adults 18-49 (L+SD, including one tie).

NBC accounted nine of the week's top 20 primetime telecasts in 18-49 on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox, with Tuesday's "Talent" (#1), Monday's "Ninja Warrior" (#5), Wednesday's "Talent" (#7), Tuesday's "Hollywood Game Night" (tied for #11), Monday's "Running Wild" encore (tied for #11), "Dateline Thursday Night Mystery" (#14), Wednesday's "Last Comic" (tied for #15), Wednesday's 9 p.m. "Mr. Robinson" (tied for #18) and Friday's "Dateline" encore (tied for #18).

For the 52-week 2014-15 season to date, NBC ranks #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and is #1 or tied for #1 among those nets in adults 25-54, adults 18-34 and all key adult-male demos.

In total viewers, NBC is #2 for the season, and running within 6% of its year-ago Olympics-boosted average (7.7 million vs. 8.3 million).

Primetime averages for the week of Aug. 17-23 in adults 18-49 are: NBC, 1.1/4; CBS, 0.9/3; Fox, 0.8/3; ABC, 0.8/3; and CW, 0.3/1. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 5.0 million; NBC, 4.5 million; ABC, 3.3 million; Fox, 2.8 million; and CW, 1.1 million.

"Most current" averages for the 52-week 2014-15 season to date are: NBC, 2.1/7; ABC, 2.0/7; CBS, 2.0/7; Fox, 1.7/6; and CW, 0.7/2. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 9.7 million; NBC, 7.7 million; ABC, 7.2 million; Fox, 5.3 million; and CW, 1.9 million.

NBC highlights for the week of Aug. 17-23:

Monday

NBC won Monday night among the Big 4 networks in every key measure with the #1 show of the night in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures, "American Ninja Warrior" (1.9/7 in 18-49, 6.8 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET). "Ninja" finished within 5% of the prior week's 7.2 million viewers overall, a series record, and within 0.2 of a point of the previous week's 2.1 in 18-49, which matched the show's highest rating since June 4, 2012.

"Live Plus Three Day" Ratings: "American Ninja Warrior" grew by +12% in 18-49 rating going from "live plus same day" to "live plus three day" Nielsens (from a 1.88 rating to a 2.10) and by 583,000 viewers overall (from 6.8 million to 7.4 million).

"Live Plus Seven Day" Ratings: "American Ninja Warrior" has grown by +18% in 18-49 rating going from "live plus same day" to "live plus seven day" ratings (from a 1.91 to a 2.25) and 866,000 viewers overall (6.4 million to 7.3 million).

An encore telecast of "Running Wild with Bear Grylls" (1.3/4 in 18-49, 3.2 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) finished within 0.1 of the prior week's season-high rating in 18-49, despite this week's encore telecast.With a rebroadcast featuring Zac Efron, "Running Wild" won the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in every key demographic, generating a +63% margin of victory among those nets in adults 18-49 (1.3 vs. 0.8 for CBS's second-place "NCIS: LA" encore). L+7: "Running Wild" is growing by +20% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.22 to a 1.47) and 632,000 viewers overall (3.6 million to 4.3 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Tuesday

NBC swept Tuesday night among the Big 4 networks, winning in all key categories and more than doubling the night's #2 network in adults 18-49 (2.0 vs. 0.9 for #2 CBS). "America's Got Talent" and "Hollywood Game Night" scored as the #1 and #2 shows of the night on those nets in every key measure.

"America's Got Talent" (2.3/8 in 18-49, 10.9 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) ranks as the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 networks in every key measure - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers. "America's Got Talent" grew +15% versus the same night last year in 18-49 (2.2 vs. 2.0 from 9-11 p.m. on Aug. 19, 2014) and was up +15% versus its year-ago average in total viewers (10.9 million vs. 9.5 million). L+3: "America's Got Talent" grew by +22% in 18-49 rating going from L+SD to L+3 Nielsens (from a 2.28 rating to a 2.77) and by more than 1.5 million viewers overall (from 10.9 million to 12.4 million). L+7: Tuesday's "America's Got Talent" has grown by +30% in 18-49 rating (from a 2.37 to a 3.07) and more than 2.1 million viewers overall (10.6 million to 12.8 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Hollywood Game Night" (1.3/5 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) won the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in every key demographic. "HGN" won the 10 p.m. hour among ABC, CBS and NBC by an +86% margin in adults 18-49 (1.3 vs. 0.7 for ABC and CBS). "Hollywood Game Night" was the night's #2 show on the Big 4 in every key demographic, behind only NBC's "Talent." L+3: "HGN" grew by +11% in 18-49 rating going from L+SD to L+3 Nielsens (from a 1.32 rating to a 1.47) and by 425,000 viewers overall (from 4.6 million to 5.0 million). L+7: "Hollywood Game Night" is increasing by an average of +20% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.30 to a 1.56) and 673,000 viewers overall (4.7 million to 5.3 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Wednesday

NBC tied for the Wednesday win in adults 18-49 and won the night outright in total viewers, led by "America's Got Talent" (1.6/6 in 18-49, 9.1 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET), the #1 show of the night in total viewers. "Talent" equaled its week-earlier rating in 18-49, NBC's best in the slot since April 8, and also delivered NBC's biggest overall audience in the time period since that same date, when a special "Voice" averaged a 2.2 in 18-49 and 9.6 million viewers overall). Week to week in total viewers, the Wednesday "Talent" is up +9% (9.2 million vs. 8.4 million). L+3: The prior week's Wednesday "Talent" increased by +24% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.60 to 1.98) and by 1.3 million viewers overall (8.4 million to 9.7 million).

"Mr. Robinson" (1.0/4 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall from 9-9:30 p.m. ET) maintained 100% of it rating for the prior week. The 9 p.m. episode of "Mr. Robinson" delivered the top Week 3 18-49 and total-viewer results for any original summer comedy in eight years (since CBS's "Creature Comforts" averaged a 1.3 in 18-49 and 4.2 million viewers overall at 8 p.m. on Monday, June 18, 2007), a span covering 14 new and returning summer comedies. L+7: The 9 p.m. edition of "Mr. Robinson" has grown by an average of +16% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.17 to a 1.36) and 642,000 viewers overall (4.6 million to 5.2 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

A second episode of "Mr. Robinson" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 3.5 million3viewers overall from 9:30-10 p.m. ET) retained 90% of both the prior half-hour's 18-49 rating and the prior week's 9:30 rating. This week's 9:30 "Mr. Robinson" won the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in all key adult-male demos. L+7: The 9:30 telecast "Mr. Robinson" has increased by an average of +17% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.02 to a 1.19) and 535,000 viewers overall (3.7 million to 4.3 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Last Comic Standing" (1.1/4 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) won the time period among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 and most other key demographics. Despite the 10 p.m. hour, "Comic" maintained or built half-hour to half-hour in adult 18-49, total viewers and most other key measures. L+3: The previous week's "Comic" grew by +32% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.20 to 1.58) and by 940,000 viewers overall (4.3 million to 5.3 million). L+7: "Last Comic Standings" is growing by an average of +29% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.50 to a 1.93) and 1.1 million viewers overall (5.7 million to 6.8 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Thursday

"Food Fighters" (0.9/4 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) grew +29% or 0.2 of a point week to week in 18-49 (0.9 vs. 0.7) and +11% in total viewers to match its season high in 18-49, while delivering its most-watched episode since July 16. "Food Fighters" ranked #2 in the slot among the Big 4 in 18-49 and total viewers.

"Dateline Thursday Night Mystery" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 5.5 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) jumped week to week by +33% or 0.3 of a rating point in 18-49 (1.2 vs. 0.9) and +19% in total viewers (5.5 million vs. 4.7 million) to earn its top rating since moving to Thursdays on July 16 and matching the highest "Dateline Mystery" rating to date among 36 Saturday and Thursday telecasts over this season and last. In adults 25-54, this week's edition set a "Dateline Mystery" record with a 1.7 rating. For its second hour from 10-11 p.m. ET, this week's "Dateline Mystery" ranked #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and all other key measures, running against original competition in that hour from ABC's "Rookie Blue" and CBS's "Under the Dome." Upscale: The prior week's "Dateline Mystery" tied as the most upscale show of the night on the Big 4 networks in terms of adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes (with a 114 index) and with four or more years of college (108).

Friday

NBC won Friday night in adults 18-49 with #1 finishes among the Big 4 networks from encores of "America's Got Talent" and "Dateline NBC."

An encore telecast of "America's Got Talent" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 3.7 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) ranked #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in adults 18-49 and 25-54. The "Talent" encore equaled NBC's highest rating in the time period in eight weeks (since a "Talent" encore earned a 0.9 on June 26).

A rebroadcast of "Dateline NBC" (1.0/4 in 18-49, 4.7 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) ranked as the #1 show of the night on ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 (1.4). "Dateline" ranked #1 in the hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in 18-49 for a fourth straight week. L+7: Friday's "Dateline" is increasing by an average of +26% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.14 to a 1.44) and 959,000 viewers overall (5.8 million to 6.7 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Saturday

An encore telecast of "Running Wild with Bear Grylls" (0.3/1 in 18-49, 1.1 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) tied for #2 in the slot among the Big 4 in adults 18-49 and tied for #1 among those nets in adults 18-34.

"Aquarius" (0.2/1 in 18-49, 1.1 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) tied for #2 among the Big 4 nets in the time period in men 25-54 with a 0.3 rating. L+3: The prior telecast of "Aquarius" grew by +60% going from L+SD to L+3 (0.25 to 0.40) and by 619,000 viewers overall (1.3 million to 1.9 million). L+7: "Aquarius" has grown by an average of +46% in 18-49 rating (from a 0.57 to a 0.83) and 1.1 million viewers overall (2.9 million to 4.0 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Hannibal" (0.2/1 in 18-49, 0.8 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) held steady or grew half-hour to half-hour in every key measure, despite the 10 p.m. hour. L+3: The prior week's "Hannibal" grew by +54% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (0.26 to 0.40) and by 375,000 viewers overall (1.0 million to 1.4 million). L+7: "Hannibal" has increased by an average of +58% in 18-49 rating (from a 0.40 to a 0.63) and 580,000 viewers overall (1.4 million to 2.0 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Sunday

An 8-9 p.m. ET rebroadcast of "Hollywood Game Night" (0.6/2 in 18-49, 2.2 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) built by +50% or 0.2 of a point on its 18-49 lead-in from a 7-8 p.m. "HGN" encore (0.4/1 in 18-49, 1.8 million viewers overall) and increased versus lead-in by +22% in total viewers.

A rebroadcast of "American Ninja Warrior" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 2.6 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) rose in its second hour from 10-11 p.m. ET to rank #1 among non-sports telecasts on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and was #1 or tied for #1 non-sports in all key demographic
