NBC Universo to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with New Lineup

NBC UNIVERSO, the modern sports and entertainment cable channel for Latinos, kicks off Hispanic Heritage month with a programming lineup that includes the world's best sports franchises and exclusive entertainment specials. From September 15 through October 15, Latino viewers will enjoy exclusive sports, big events and thrilling specials that celebrates the Hispanic community in the U.S.

Following are the highlights of NBC UNIVERSO's Hispanic Heritage Month schedule:

Sports

Starting Sept. 29th, NBC UNIVERSO will exclusively air León and Pachucahome matches from Liga MX. The action kicks-off with the highly anticipated match between León vs. América at 9:00p ET / 6:00p PT. Viewers will be able to experience all the excitement of Liga MX as they visit Estadio León and Estadio Hidalgo under the lights. NBC UNIVERSO will also exclusively air theCONCACAF Olympic Qualifying matches starting October 1st at 6:30p ET. Fans can root for their favorite teams including Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama and Cuba!

The NFL is back in Spanish on NBC UNIVERSO. On Sunday, Sept. 27th, NBC UNIVERSO will air a Hispanic Heritage special produced by NBC Deportes followed by the Denver Broncos facing off against the Detroit Lions at 8:00p ET / 5:00p PT. Also, on Oct. 11th the San Francisco 49ers battle the New York Giants at 8:00p ET / 5:00p PT.

MMA fans are part of the action as well, Combate Americas, the first-ever U.S. Hispanic Mixed Martial Arts sports franchise founded by Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) co-creator Campbell McLaren kicks off on Sept. 17th. The groundbreaking live event was created specifically for U.S. Hispanics who are passionate about the sport and is currently the only MMA league featuring Hispanic fighters. The "Road to the Championship," an all-new, multiyear MMA fight series will air live at 11:00p ET/8:00p PT exclusively on NBC UNIVERSO.

The network will also be airing a special on Triple Crown-winning jockey, Victor Espinoza, who became the first Hispanic jockey to win the award earlier this year. The special, Victor Espinoza: Orgullo Latino, airing Saturday, Oct. 3rd at 4:00p ET will showcase the athlete and honor his Mexican roots.

Entertainment

Starting off the network's entertainment programming during Hispanic Heritage month, NBC UNIVERSO will air the highly anticipated season finale of the hit reality series, Larrymanía, featuring Regional Mexican Star Larry Hernández, on Sept. 20th at 9:00p ET/PT. Fans can catch Larry's crazy adventures as well as never before seen moments with the "Best of Season 4" special airing immediately after at 10:00p ET/PT.

Marking the biggest events in music, NBC UNIVERSO will be simulcasting the first ever Latin American Music Awards live from the prestigious Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California. The awards will honor the most influential and iconic Latin artists, as voted by the fans, including nominees Maná, Juan Gabriel, Ricky Martin, Prince Royce, and Gloria Trevi. The awards as well as the red carpet prior to the show will air on Wednesday, Oct. 8th at 9:00p ET/PT.

The music doesn't stop there, all throughout Hispanic Heritage month fans will also get to relive the best moments from 'Festival Internacional de Viña del Mar 2015.' The festival features performances from Latin America's biggest names in music including Romeo Santos, Alejandro Fernandez, Yandel, and Ricardo Arjona, among many others.

From music to movies, NBC UNIVERSO will give viewers an inside look at Guillermo Del Toro's new film 'Crimson Peak' with the special Crimson Peak: En Exclusiva con Guillermo del Toro, airing Saturday, Oct. 10th at 6:30p ET.To honor the Mexican filmmaker's work, the network will also be airing all of his classic films throughout the month of October including Mama, Hell Boy, and the acclaimed Pan's Labyrinth.
