With "The Voice" delivering the #1 and 2 ratings of the week among primetime programs on the Big 4 networks, NBC has tied for #1 for the week of May 18-24 in adults 18-49 and won the week outright among the Big 4 networks in adults 25-54 and other key measures. According to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research, NBC averaged a 1.2 rating, 5 share in adults 18-49 and 5.6 million viewers overall for the week.
Tuesday's "Voice" season finale ranked #1 among primetime telecasts on ABC, CBS,
NBC and
FOX last week and Monday's final competition episode finished #2.
Joining those two "Voice" telecasts in the week's top 30 primetime Big 4 programs were Tuesday's encore "Voice" recap (tied for #12), Wednesday's "Chicago P.D." (tied for #16), Wednesday's "Law & Order: SVU" (tied for #16), Monday's "The Night Shift" (tied for #24) and Wednesday's "The Mysteries of Laura" (#30). Rankings exclude sports pre- and post-game shows.
Tuesday's "Voice" finale also ranked #1 among primetime shows on the Big 4 last week in adults, men and women 25-54; men and women 18-49; and men 18-34.
For the 52-week 2014-15 season to date,
NBC ranks #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 as well as men 18-49 and adults and men 18-34.
In total viewers,
NBC is #2 for the season, and running within 7% of its year-ago Olympics-boosted average (8.6 million vs. 9.2 million), making this season and last NBC's two top-scoring seasons in total viewers at this point since the 2006-07 season. This is the second year in a row
NBC has ranked #2 in total viewers at this point in the season, marking first two times since 2003-04 that
NBC has ranked higher than #4 in total viewers at this point.
Primetime averages for the week of May 18-24 in adults 18-49 are: NBC, 1.2/5; ABC, 1.2/4; CBS, 1.0/4; Fox, 1.0/4; and CW, 0.4/2. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 6.2 million; NBC, 5.6 million; ABC, 5.4 million; Fox, 3.8 million; and CW, 1.2 million.
"Most current" averages for the 52-week 2014-15 season to date are: NBC, 2.4/8; CBS, 2.3/7; ABC, 2.2/7; Fox, 1.9/6; and CW, 0.8/3. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 11.2 million; NBC, 8.6 million; ABC, 7.9 million; Fox, 5.8 million; and CW, 2.1 million.
May 2015 Sweep Averages: With 28 of 28 nights counted in Nielsen's May Sweep period, "most current" averages are: ABC, 2.0 rating; CBS, 1.5; NBC, 1.4; Fox, 1.1; and CW, 0.7. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 8.8 million; ABC, 7.8 million; NBC, 6.2 million; Fox, 3.6 million; and CW, 1.8 million.
NBC highlights for the week of May 18-24:
Monday
"The Voice" (2.6/9 in 18-49, 11.3 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) ranked #1 among Big 4 telecasts Monday night in adults 18-49 and other key demos. "The Voice" grew +8% versus the prior week in adults 18-49 (2.6 vs. 2.4) and was up week to week for a second straight week (up +13% vs. two weeks ago, 2.6 vs. 2.3), to equal its highest 18-49 rating since April 13 (2.9). In total viewers, Monday's "Voice" grew +13% week to week (11.3 million vs. 10.1 million) to a seven-week high for a Monday edition, best since March 30 (11.9 million).
"Live Plus Three Day" Ratings: "The Voice" grew by +14% in 18-49 rating going from "live plus same day" to "live plus three day" Nielsens (from a 2.62 rating to a 2.99) and by 1.0 million viewers overall (from 11.3 million to 12.3 million).
"Live Plus Seven Day" Ratings: Season to date, first-run editions of Monday's "Voice" have grown in L+7 vs. L+SD by +25% in 18-49 rating (from a 3.27 to a 4.10) and more than 2.2 million viewers overall (12.0 million to 14.1 million).
"The Night Shift" (1.2/4 in 18-49, 5.2 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) maintained 100% of its prior week's rating in adults 18-49, despite special competition this week from ABC's "Bachelorette" season premiere, and grew +6% week to week in total viewers (5.2 million vs. 4.9 million)
. L+3: "The Night Shift" grew by +32% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.17 to 1.54). In total viewers, "Night Shift" grew by more than 1.3 million persons (from 5.2 million to 6.6 million). L+7: "The Night Shift" has increased by an average of +37% in 18-49 rating this season (from a 1.33 to a 1.82) and 1.7 million viewers overall (5.4 million to 7.1 million) going from L+SD to L+7.
Tuesday
A recap edition of "The Voice" (1.6/6 in 18-49, 7.8 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) ranked #1 or tied for #1 in the time period among the Big 4 networks in adults 25-54 and all key adult-male demos.
The season finale of "The Voice" (2.9/9 in 18-49, 11.6 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) ranked #1 for the night among Big 4 telecasts in adults 18-49 with a +26% margin over the #2 show (2.9 vs. 2.3 for ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" finale). "The Voice" jumped +38% week to week in adults 18-49 (2.9 vs. 2.1) and +26% or 2.4 million persons in total viewers (11.6 million vs. 9.2 million) to the show's top Tuesday "Voice" result in 18-49 since March 17 in 18-49 (3.2) and in total viewers since March 24 (11.619 million viewers overall). "The Voice" grew +71% versus NBC's time-period average this season in 18-49 (2.9 vs. 1.7) and by +76% or 5.0 million persons in total viewers (11.6 million vs. 6.6 million). Versus the year-ago finale, "The Voice" held 88% in 18-49 (2.9 vs. 3.3) and retained 99% in total viewers (11.6 million vs. 11.7 million). L+3: "The Voice" increased by +15% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (2.87 to 3.30). In total viewers, "Voice" grew by more than 1.3 million persons (from 11.6 million to 12.9 million). In L+3, the "Voice" finale beat the show's year-ago finale, 12.943 million to 12.895 million. L+7: Originals of Tuesday's "Voice" have grown by an average of +24% in 18-49 rating this season (from a 3.20 to a 3.98) and 2.0 million viewers overall (12.2 million to 14.2 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Excluding that Feb. 25 telecast, last night's "Laura" season finale matched the show's 18-49 high since Jan. 7 (1.3) and delivered its biggest overall audience since Dec. 10 (8.1 million). "The Mysteries of Laura" grew week to week for a second straight week in 18-49, up versus the prior week by +10% (1.1 vs. 1.0) and up versus the week before that by +22% (1.1 vs. 0.9). "Laura" also increased week to week for a second week in a row in total viewers, up versus the previous week by +14% (7.1 million vs. 6.2 million) and up versus the week before that by +17% (7.1 million vs. 6.1 million). L+3: "Laura" grew by +30% in L+3 vs. L+SD in 18-49 rating (1.06 to 1.39), and grew in total viewers by more than 1.2 million persons (7.1 million to 8.3 million). L+7: "The Mysteries of Laura" originals are growing by +33% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.23 to a 1.64) and 1.8 million viewers overall (7.5 million to 9.3 million) going from L+SD to L+7.
The season finale of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.4/5 in 18-49, 7.0 million viewers overall from 9-10 p.m. ET) delivered its most-watched edition, excluding the April 29 crossover episode, since April 8 (7.3 million). "SVU" ranked #2 in the hour among the Big 4 networks in total viewers. L+3: "SVU" increased in L+3 vs. L+SD by +65% in 18-49 rating (1.38 to 2.28) and in total viewers by more than 2.1 million persons (7.0 million to 9.1 million). L+7: "SVU" originals this season are increasing by an average of +70% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.62 to a 2.76) and 3.0 million viewers overall (7.3 million to 10.3 million) going from L+SD to L+7.
The season finale of "Chicago P.D." (1.4/5 in 18-49, 7.2 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) delivered its most-watched telecast, excluding the April 29 crossover episode, since Feb. 25 (7.4 million). "Chicago P.D." retained 100% of its lead-in from "SVU" in 18-49 and built on that lead-in by 4% in total viewers. L+3: "Chicago P.D." grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +58% in 18-49 rating (1.44 to 2.28) and in total viewers by 2.6 million persons (7.2 million to 9.8 million). "Red Nose Day" averaged a 0.8/3 and 3.1 million viewers overall from 8-11 p.m. ET, tying for #1 among ABC,

Friday
An encore of "The Blacklist" averaged a 0.4/2 in 18-49 and 2.6 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET.
A rebroadcast "Dateline NBC" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) ranked #2 in the slot among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.
Saturday
NBC led the night among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and most other key demos with
NBC Sports coverage of Stanley Cup Playoff Hockey, featuring the Anaheim Ducks at the Chicago Blackhawks (0.9/4 in 18-49, 2.8 million viewers overall from 8 p.m.-12:17 a.m. ET). Versus the comparable year-ago Stanley Cup telecast, Saturday's coverage of the Ducks-Blackhawks double-overtime game grew by +13% in 18-49 rating (0.9 vs. 0.8 for Blackhawks-Kings on Saturday, May 24, 2014) and up +15% in total viewers (2.8 million vs. 2.4 million). From its first primetime half-hour to its sixth, the telecast grew by +175% in adult 18-49 rating (0.4 to 1.1) and by +91% or 1.6 million persons in total viewers (1.7 million to 3.3 million).
