The cars are faster and the STAKES are higher, but nearly 50 years since Richard Petty won a historic ten consecutive races, the spirit of NASCAR racing remains the same. Presented by Smithfield Foods, Building 43 guides viewers through the history of Richard Petty Motorsports, the 1967 season that crowned "The King," and the No. 43 team's current focus on capturing checkered flags. Building 43 airs Saturday, May 21st at 1 p.m. ET on NBC.

"If you do the right stuff in the winter, then your whole season does pretty good," Petty explains in the one-hour documentary which delves into NASCAR's demanding offseason. A sequel to last year's Chasing 43, Building 43 takes viewers inside the garage as Richard Petty Motorsports prepared for the 2016 season. In a preview link available here, current driver of Richard Petty Motorsports' No. 43, Aric Almirola, addresses "The King's" earth-shattering impact on racing history.

Richard Petty Motorsports currently fields two Sprint Cup cars; the No. 43 driven by Almirola currently in his fifth full Sprint Cup season, and the No. 44 driven by Brian Scott, who competed full-time in the NASCAR XFINITY Series for six seasons. The team also hosts the No. 43 XFINITY series car driven by Jeb Burton, son of Ward Burton and the nephew of NASCAR on NBC analyst Jeff Burton.

Building 43 presents an exciting addition to NBC Sports' portfolio of NASCAR racing content. NASCAR Sprint Cup racing returns to NBC with the Coke Zero 400 on Saturday, July 2 at 7:45 p.m. ET. In 2016 NBC Sports Group presents 20 Sprint Cup, 19 XFINITY and 37 touring series races in addition to coverage of NASCAR's Awards Ceremonies and the annual NASCAR Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

Following the premier of Building 43, Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist takes the next step in his quest for the Triple Crown as NBC presents the 141st Preakness STAKES this Saturday, May 21, at 5 p.m. ET.

The addition of NASCAR Sprint Cup and XFINITY Series racing to NBC Sports Group's portfolio set viewership milestones in 2015. The Sprint Cup Championship race from Miami was the most-watched NASCAR season finale in a decade and set a NASCAR LIVE streaming traffic record for NBC Sports Live Extra. Five of NBCSN's top 10 most-watched telecasts in the network's history are 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup races, and NASCAR powered NBCSN to its most-watched year on record.
